  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Brisbane Kids Philosophy

brisbane kids believes in this

Community

In an ideal community, every child seeks to be loved, feel happy and live in a safe place. Children deserve the best outcomes, interactions, and experiences when connecting with places, people, and services.

Childhood needs to be protected and celebrated, just as communities need support and people working to help them. At Brisbane Kids, we will always strive to work in a compassionate and balanced way. Our focus on our customers (community) and clients (those who offer the best activities and services) will be fiercely protected, and their satisfaction and engagement will be our measure of success.

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of this land where we live, the Turrbal people and Gubbi Gubbi people, and their connection to land, water, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.

Brisbane Kids Publishing Standards

Brisbane Kids seeks to act in the best interests of its local and global community.

Integrity, honesty and compassion are at the centre of Brisbane Kids’ publishing policy.

Any photography will be published in context as an accurate representation of a person, destination or event. Things like heavy filters or distortion of images will be avoided, but otherwise identified.

Audience and community privacy will be protected via the Brisbane Kids privacy policy. During campaigns like the Brisbane Kids Christmas Lights Map and Halloween Trick or Treating, Brisbane Kids will seek consent for publishing addresses that are not already published in the public media.

The Brisbane Kids team has the right to refuse advertising or event listings should they deem them of a quality that would leave them uncertain about the safety or interest of the community.

Community interest and safety will override any content or advertising schedules. Examples include but are not limited to reporting on natural disasters, missing children, amber alerts or any direct requests from law enforcement.

Special care will be taken in any reviews or photography using children under 16. In addition to guardian consent, where age permits, consent of the child will also be requested. The use of these photos, whether agreed to at the time, will be removed at any time in the future at the child’s request or their guardian’s.

The Brisbane Kids founder

brisbane kids founder

My name is Ngaire Stirling, and I am the founder and owner of Brisbane Kids. I created this resource in 2011 with little more than $100 to share all the unique places I was visiting with my kids. After losing my mum suddenly to cancer not long before having my first child, it was also a cathartic way to share my memories. I quickly realised that by sharing these experiences, I was encouraging other families to explore more with their kids and, in turn, build bigger and brighter childhoods and memories.

I have lived in Brisbane my entire life and my favourite place to holiday is K’gari. I have three spirited kids, a husband, nine chickens and two dogs. My background is in journalism, sales and marketing, and early years teaching, and I am particularly interested in teen mental health and neurodiversity. I am on the Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism board and devote my spare time to trying to save native animals in my role as a director of the Moreton Bay Wildlife Foundation.

Today at Brisbane Kids, I work with a team of talented writers, editors and designers, and we all continue to do our best to make it easier for families to get out and about and build memories with their kids.

I met a lady at White Hills Park. She has recently moved to Brisbane and told me about this app. This will be a great tool for us as Grandparents 😊
