  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Ewing Park | Woodridge Train Playground

Last Updated: February 22, 2023
Ewing Park train and playground

Ewing Park has something for everyone who visits. Twice a month, there are train rides on a miniature train.  We also think visiting for the fun playground, rugby goalposts, barbecues, picnic tables and toilet facilities is worth visiting.

Ewing Park playground

Ewing Park has received a brand new playground with many great elements, especially for primary school-aged children.  There’s a large, very dark, tunnel slide and a fun bendy slide.  These slides are on separate platforms joined together by a high rope bridge.

The slide platforms can be accessed by cargo nets, ladders and climbing walls.  Please note that younger kids and toddlers might find this playground equipment too challenging to access without assistance.  However, just across from this playground structure is a bank of 3 swings – including a toddler swing and a nest swing as well as a traditional swing seat – which are always popular with children of all ages.

The open playground is sand-based. It features a few shade trees, but sunscreen and hats are a definite must and this equipment features metal and plastic surfaces which may heat up in the Queensland sun.

Ewing Park also has a great bike path running the park’s perimeter, along with several netball, basketball, volleyball and tennis courts adjacent to the playground.

You will find several sheltered picnic tables at Ewing Park and multiple electric barbecues. Bench seats are located around the park and on the train ‘platform’.

Ewing Park Train Days

Brisbane Kids interested in transport will get a kick out of the train tracks, platform and boom gates here.

Every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month there are actual train rides! Weather and restrictions permitting, on every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month from late January to November you and your children can enjoy train rides from 10:30am-4pm.

Children under 4 years must be accompanied by an adult, and adults ride free with children under 4. Enclosed shoes must be worn – no thongs, sandals or croc shoes.

Check our calendar for further information, or the Facebook page for the Logan Model Engineering Society here for up-to-date information.

Imagination Factor

Ewing park tunnel slide

The train rides and railway infrastructure here is great fun for younger Brisbane Kids to imagine themselves as train driver or a passenger, they will have to use a little imagination to conjure up an invisible train to chug around the train tracks which encircle the playground and park.

Older kids can imagine the playground as a fortress with escape slides, and for sporty kids, the rugby posts will have them imagining themselves scoring tries or kicking field goals for the Broncos or the Wallabies.

Accessibility

Ewing park swingset

Disabled toilet facilities are provided at Ewing Park. Many flat concrete paths throughout the park would be suitable for wheelchairs and shelters set on concrete. The playground is unfenced. However, the sandy base makes it slightly inaccessible.

Ewing Park features

  • Wheelchair-accessible toilets
  • Playground equipment for a variety of ages over a sand base
  • Unfenced, unsheltered playground
  • Four single electric BBQs
  • Few shady trees
  • Sheltered picnic tables
  • Jacaranda trees
  • Shopping centre next door
  • Large carpark (often busy during sporting matches)
  • Many interconnecting bike and walking paths

Another nearby Brisbane Playground is Doug Larsen Park.

Ewing Park is located on Netball Drive, off Ewing Road, at Woodridge.
