Set back from the beach and shaded by trees is Lions Park in Woorim – a fantastic playground to visit on your next trip to Bribie Island.
Lions Park Playground
Lions Park is a simple, fenced playground with play equipment suitable for children of various ages. The shade of the trees bordering the playground offers the ideal escape from the summer heat of the nearby beach.
A large rope-based climbing structure dominates the space. This item will entice older children as it is rather tall and would be an exhilarating climb. However, it would be too challenging for most children under 5 or 6.
For younger children, however, Lions Park offers some fun much closer to the ground. There are two swings, including an infant swing, a see-saw and a dizzy stick. In addition, there are several spring riders, including a bouncy option with four seats and a stand-on wobbly surfboard.
There is another small, fenced playground next to the amenities block of Woorim Beach. This playground has a smaller climbing fort; however, it is unshaded.
Several cafes are nearby to order lunch or pack a picnic and use one of the BBQs at the park.
Surrounding the park are lovely shaded shared pathways. Woorim Beach offers a magnificent place for the family to enjoy a swim or play on the sand. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on Woorim Beach, so if you have a dog, you will want to visit one of the nearby off-leash dog beaches instead.
Lions Park Imagination Factor
Who is that climbing up so high? Is it a cheeky monkey or the captain’s first mate looking for glimpses of land? And down below, are we surrounded by sharks or just friendly dolphins?
Better suited to slightly older children, the amount of space and natural surroundings are perfect for discovering new games to play.
Lions Park Accessibility
Lions Park in Woorim has accessible toilet facilities. The playground is fenced and is on a rubber base. It is surrounded by shared pathways suited to wheelchairs, prams or mobility scooters. There are no specific accessible play items at Lions Park.
At the time of writing, Moreton Bay Council is trialing an Accessible Beaches Initiative. Two beach wheelchairs are available for free hire on weekends and public holidays during this trial. Contact Moreton Bay Council before your visit to check availability and book.

What We Thought of Lions Park
Our trip to Bribie Island was a long drive for our little Brisbane Kid, but being able to stop at a fenced playground on our arrival was brilliant. His little legs could burn off some pent-up energy in a safe and shady play space before we unpacked the car and headed down to the beach. I also found it a pleasant place for lunch as shaded picnic tables are situated very close by with a clear view of the playground.
