I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Decker Park in Brighton

Last updated: May 25, 2021
Sand play area in Decker area.

This lovely seaside playground is a favourite for families because, in addition to the impressive playgrounds, there is also the lure of the waterfront.

Decker Park Playground

It is easy to spend a day out at the picturesque beachside playground, Decker Park. This Brighton playground has several sections, so it is easy to find an area suitable to the age and ability of your child. Even your four-legged friend is catered for, with a fully fenced dog park situated beside the playground.

Children can challenge one another to a game of 4-in-a-row or noughts and crosses on the cognitive play panels, build sand castles in the Sand Worx area or play on the ever popular, traditional play equipment such as swings, slides, forts and climbing nets.

Not only is the playground a treasure trove of activity there is plenty of other activities to partake in when visiting this park. Why not take a leisurely stroll or cycle along the shared pathways that span the nearby Ted Smout Bridge or along the waterfront to Sandgate and Shorncliffe.

Alternatively, the calm waters of nearby Bramble Bay glisten in the sun and is a wonderful spot for collecting shells, playing in the sand (when the tide is out) or honing your photography skills. Bring the binoculars for a spot of bird watching, plane spotting or spying cargo ships in the distance!

Decker Park is very popular, especially on weekends, so be prepared to share the space with other families enjoying the great outdoors.

Imagination Factor

Your Brisbane Kids will be able to put their imagination to use whilst playing amongst the equipment at Decker Park, particularly in the Sand Worx area where there are scoops, sand tables, funnels etc.

Pirate themed play equipment will also evoke echoes of ‘ahoy’ and ‘shiver me timbers’ as little ones peep through port holes and steer the pirate ship into uncharted waters. Given the large and spread out nature of the playground, hide and seek would be another fun way to burn off some energy.

Accessibility

Parts of Decker Park can be accessed by wheelchairs and prams including a variety of cognitive play panels, a dragonfly seesaw and swings (including an all-abilities swing seat). Decker Park is covered by ample natural shade which is provided by a variety of trees as well as shade sails. There are also plenty of seating options throughout the park and in the surrounding area.
