  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

John Scott Park Samford

Last Updated: August 4, 2023
Toddler playground with tunnel and slides at John Scott Park.

With its variety of equipment, facilities and proximity to cafés and shops, John Scott Park in picturesque Samford is a fantastic destination for a picnic and play with your Brisbane Kids.

John Scott Park playground

Surrounded by niche art and craft stores, cafés and a wide-open stretch of grass, John Scott Park in Samford Village is perfect for a morning or afternoon play in the outdoors. There are BBQ facilities, sheltered picnic tables and wheelchair-accessible toilets.

The playground area has two distinct zones: a tall fort with slides and a rope bridge for older kids, and a smaller fort with slides for younger children. Both structures feature an array of climbing, swinging, playing and sliding opportunities.

The younger play zone also features a play train, rotating see-saw, and two spring rockers.  The older play zone has a popular climbing wall, rope bridge and a bigger slide.

The park also features an inward facing pentagon-shaped swing set, where kids can swing towards each other resulting in lots of squeals and giggles. A pair of half-bucket swings is also located near the playground and are suitable for younger children and toddlers.

John Scott Park has two large grassed areas which open up on either side of the playground, and are perfect for a game of chasey or frisbee.

If your Brisbane Kid loves to play basketball, bring along a ball and have a game on the basketball court. Better still, if they enjoy bike riding, bring their bike and safety gear as there is an asphalt BMX track too. Sheltered seating is located alongside the track for onlookers. A purpose-built boules/petanque playing field is also available for those who enjoy a more relaxed game.

Imagination Factor at John Scott Park

Toy train at John Scott Park.Little Brisbane Kids can’t go past the play train for old-fashioned, make-believe play at this park. The climbing wall is fantastic for mini-mountain climbers, testing skills whilst building strength. Little football stars will love kicking a ball around in the open grass. There are lots of other things to see and do in this park too – the surrounding trees are full of possum/bird boxes and you’ll often spot colourful lorikeets or squawking cockatoos in the tall gums. In the younger play space, a pretend “corner store” is bound to result in shop play.

Accessibility at John Scott Park

John Scott Park has wheelchair accessible toilet facilities and some flat concrete paths suitable for pram and wheelchair use. The playground equipment is partially shaded by shade sails and well-established trees; however, some equipment is open to the elements. There are plenty of catering options at nearby cafés and shops for a picnic, as well as sheltered gas barbeques if you choose to BYO.
