  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Springwood Park | Cinderella Street

Last Updated: October 13, 2021
Springwood Park

Springwood Park’s big, colourful playground is surrounded by lush green grass and tall shady trees, making it the perfect family BBQ destination on the south-side.

Springwood Park playground

Springwood Park‘s playground is large, bright and colourful featuring two play forts within the same sand play based playground. With a heap of equipment, including swings and slides, the playground is protected from the sun by numerous overlapping shade sails.

This is a play space clearly designed with younger children in mind with the colourful play forts feature climbing nets, tunnels, slides, fireman poles and both stairs and ladders to climb onto the playgrounds.

A traditional swing set with infant swing harness and sand bouncy toys also feature at what we can only call a very traditional, colourful playground.

The playground forts are elevated and there are some open areas on the forts where toddlers could come unstuck and this is something to be mindful of especially with adventurous early walkers.

Springwood Park playground features a popular sand digger and if you have very young children it wouldn’t be remiss to include some buckets and spades in what you bring to extend sand play even further.

The park offers a lot of space to run with ample green grass and plenty of shady trees and is part of the greater Springwood Conservation area. The nearby creek is inaccessible, but is still fun to explore from a distance and if the kids are lucky they might spot the resident community of curious water dragons often seen down by the creek.

It also boasts four large picnic shelters, as well as several unsheltered bench seats as well as offering three electric barbeques making this is an ideal spot for a family gathering or birthday party in the park.

Imagination Factor

With all of the space and large trees to hide behind in Springwood Park, a game of hide-and-seek is a must. The cool play structure is an ideal imaginary ferris wheel, rocket ship or virtually any number of great pretend houses or buildings. The grassy slopes of Springwood Park are perfect for tobogganing on a piece of cardboard.

Accessibility

Springwood Park offers accessible toilet facilities. There are many concrete paths and a bike path in the park, making it possible to access via wheelchair. Wheelchair access has also been provided along a section of the Gorge Discovery Circuit. The playground is unfenced and covered by great shadesails. There is no carpark as such, but plenty of space to park along the ring road that runs through the park itself.

Springwood Park features

  • Accessible toilet facilities
  • Unfenced playground on sand base
  • Shadesail covered playground
  • Swings (1 x infant, 1 x regular)
  • Slide
  • See-saw
  • Huge climbing play structure
  • Bike path
  • 3 electric BBQs (1 with 1 plate, 2 with 2 plates)
  • 4 shelters with tables
  • Unsheltered bench seating
  • Shade trees
  • Grassy open space
  • Creek nearby, though inaccessible
