  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Majestic Park in Coorparoo | Dragon play and fort

Last Updated: February 14, 2024

With recent upgrades to the main playground fort and surrounding play space, Majestic Park, also commonly known as “Dragon Park” now has a whole new level of imaginative play for kids.

Majestic Park Playground

castle, playground, fort

Majestic Park in Coorparoo is affectionately known as “Dragon Park” because of its dragon-themed areas with a central dragon climbing frame and the main play fort representing a full-blown fairytale castle.

Complete with a drawbridge entry, multiple levels, suspended bridges, lookout towers, multiple slides and a rope climbing frame, Brisbane kids will be in their element as they explore the many delights held within this wooden fairytale castle.  The castle even has small labelled sections for a Dungeon, Merlin’s Spell Store and an Armoury Room.

Aside from the main castle fort, Majestic Park features a circular swing, some soft stepping stones, dragon eggs, and footprints to follow and find.  There is also a small springboard, soft matted flooring and a low stone wall surrounding the main playground.

The park also features two exercise stations, a smaller toddler play area, a  280m circular bike path ideal for kids learning to ride or scoot, and a cricket pitch in the middle of the park.

Imagination Factor

This Brisbane park is overflowing with imaginative play areas.  Your kids will love pretending that they are kings and queens of their majestic castle, fighting off dragons and enemies, armouring up and casting spells on those who approach.  The dungeon is where those who are captured can have a rest and there are plenty of spaces within the fort to explore and protect as they climb, cross and slide their way through its many entries and exits.

Three large dragon eggs are also found nearby the dragon climbing structure and a board encourages kids to explore the playground and see if they can find the missing egg.

Hint: The missing egg is silver in colour and can be found near one of the most popular features in the playground!

Nature Play

While the main drawcard to this park is the dragon and fairytale-themed playground, there are also plenty of nature play areas to explore.

Just behind the large dragon climbing frame (which has large wooden logs perfect to climb over) is a small tree-filled play space which has been given its own label of the “enchanted forest“.  The trees are spaced widely apart, making it a perfect and safe little bush setting for kids to weave amongst and play within.

The park also has some beautiful big climbing trees with low, wide and far-reaching branches that are perfect for little people who are wanting to see the world from a different vantage point.

Majestic Park is part of the Norman Creek Catchment and your kids can expect to see wildlife like curlews, scrub turkeys and the odd cheeky kookaburra.

Accessibility

all ability swings, magestic park, round swing

Majestic Park has no specified disabled toilet facilities..

The bikeway is flat and runs around the circumference of the cricket field. The park has one double-plate electric barbeque, picnic tables and shelters, and grassy open space to set up for the day. The playground equipment is suited to a variety of ages and abilities. The playground is unfenced.

I found this park to be especially hot and exposed with no shade over the fort area in the morning. Unsuitable for my 2 year old as most of the activities eg swing and slide too hot to touch.
