  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Last updated: October 11, 2023

Stunning views of the city both day and night (especially at sunrise and sunset) will keep you coming back to Mount Gravatt Outlook Reserve. A variety of walking tracks and a small but fun partially fenced playground will also keep families busy on their visit. Oh and the onsite cafe will keep little tummies full and coffee cravings fulfilled.

Mount Gravatt Lookout, Cafe and Playground

Even though Mount Gravatt Outlook Reserve only has a small playground, suited to younger Brisbane Kids, there is much to do in the area and it’s a great spot for a family picnic. The playground includes a sway swing that can be accessed in a wheelchair, as well as swings, a climbing net and rockers protected from the sun by a large shade sail.

There is grassy space to run around and lots of large shade trees.

Mount Gravatt Summit Picnic area can be accessed by road or by hiking. The road up to the summit is a very popular ride for cyclists.

The Summit Picnic Area at the top of the mountain is the main picnic area with city views; there is also Gertrude Petty Place picnic area which is located at the bottom of the mountain. The accessible toilets are at the Summit Picnic Area. Both picnic areas have picnic tables and lots of opened green space to put down a blanket. There is plenty of parking in both areas.

Lovewell Cafe, located at the top of the mountain is a social enterprise cafe attached to the Lovewell Foundation, a social enterprise cafe supporting vulnerable woman. The cafe has great food, coffee and delicious ice cream. It is open everyday – weekdays 8am to 3pm and weekends 7am to 3pm. The kitchen closes at 2pm.

Bushwalking Trails at Mount Gravatt Outlook Reserve

Most of the walking tracks are moderate grade, with a couple graded easy and one hard. The reserve provides a home for native birds, reptiles, amphibians and mammals, including koalas. The trails are lined with beautiful eucalyptus trees, brush box, native grasses and ferns.

There is a brand-new walking track which also has fabulous views of the city. It connects the Goodenia Track to the water reserve off Shire Road.

What We Thought of Mount Gravatt Outlook Reserve

Koala sitting in a tree at Mount Gravatt Outlook Reserve.

After enjoying the beautiful view, I did the Summit Track with my 5-year-old and almost 2-year-old which was slow and steady as there are quite a lot of steps and the ground is uneven. Being a slow walk, meant we chatted with lots of regular walkers/locals who gave us the inside tip to look for arrows scratched into ground which indicates there is a koala. We were extremely grateful for this key bit of information as it meant we got to see a good handful of koalas in the wild.

The playground is fun for a swing, climb and play on the sway glider.

How to Get to Mount Gravatt Outlook Reserve

Mount Gravatt Outlook Reserve is located on Mount Gravatt Outlook Drive in Mount Gravatt.

During peak times, particularly sunset, the lookout can get rather busy, so it is wise to get there with a bit of time to spare to catch the spectacular views.

There are toilets there now, not only in the cafe. There are public ones 🙂
