Fully fenced, Lockrose Street Park is a tranquil playground best suited for toddlers. There are so many positive aspects to this park; an awesome fenced playground, plenty of shade, lots of grassy space and ducks and other wildlife gracing the ponds.
Lockrose Street Park playground
Tucked away in a quiet residential area of Mitchelton, Lockrose Street Park features a fully fenced and covered playground that is a toddler’s paradise.
As you enter the playground there are wooden benches next to a sign which designates this as a ‘rest area.’ This playground is a rare instance in which toddler parents feel they can do (at least a bit) of just that!
The sand play area is popular among the little ones who can use the equipment provided in the ‘Sand Works’ to play, create and have fun.
Nestled between a creek and a pond the surroundings allow for plenty of birdwatching, though please note vigilance with little ones outside of the fenced playground is necessary due to waterways.
Sails allow for ample shade even in the middle of the day to explore the ship-themed climbing fort, enjoy the swings or get messy in the sandpit.
While the little ones will enjoy watching the many ducks in the pond, please remember not to feed them!
Note – Unfortunately there are NO toilet facilities at Lockrose Street Park.
Imagination Factor at Lockrose Street Park
The ship-theme climbing fort provides an excellent base for imaginary play to sail across the seas, while the sandpit structure features scoops and sinks to cook or conduct experiments in a laboratory!
When active children scale the fort they can view their surroundings from above, whooshing down the ‘hill’ when they’re ready to play shops in the area below.
The mini bike path within the fenced playground at Lockrose Street Park is perfect for little Brisbane Kids just gaining their riding and scootering skills; playing at being drivers.
Accessibility at Lockrose Street Park
Unfortunately, Lockrose Street Park does not have toilet facilities. The playground is fully fenced, includes bench seating within the fenced area and can be accessed via a paved path.
There is a waterway within the park, so vigilance with children outside of the fenced playground is required at all times.

What We Thought of Lockrose Street Park
Lockrose Street Park is one of our favourite playgrounds. We love the plentiful shade, especially on those hot summer’s days. A fully fenced is also a bonus when visiting with energetic toddlers or multiple children.
And who doesn’t love watching ducks and other wildlife go about their business on the pond and in the trees. Watching these creatures always results in lots of questions and giggles.
