  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Crockatt Park in Woody Point

Last Updated: September 25, 2023

Head to Crockatt Park in Woody Point for that holiday feeling of sea breezes, fish and chips, ice creams with plenty to keep your Brisbane Kids amused for the whole day.

Crockatt Park playground

Crockatt Park is located in a beautiful spot near Redcliffe, overlooking the azure waters of Moreton Bay. The main playground attraction is the long flying fox which will have your Brisbane Kids squealing with delight. The kids board the flying fox on a raised platform and it isn’t unusual to see kids up hear waiting patiently for their turn and running back when it is after.

Next to the flying fox is a large pyramid climbing net for confident climbers to scale in order to get a better view of the bay and perhaps even the city skyline in the distance.  An undercover playground slides, play panels and a mini hammock, whilst bucket spinners, rockers and a seesaw are located in the undercover area as well. There is also a bank of swings, which feature a standard and a toddler swing.

To fill those hungry tummies you can either bring your own picnic, use the barbecue facilities or enjoy lunch at one of the many cafes and fish and chip shops within walking distance. The Belvedere Hotel, situated across the road from the park, is a local institution and has a stunning deck overlooking the water and offers a children’s menu.

The playground sits alongside an array of shaded and unshaded picnic tables and Crockatt Park is a playground that many families head to for afternoon plays and early dinners. It is common for the foreshore to be peppered with picnic blankets and families filling the other picnic tables along the foreshore path.

The foreshore path is pram friendly and travels back as far as the Hornibrook Bridge and then down to the Woody Point Jetty. Your kids will love walking the Jetty and this is a popular spot to introduce kids to fishing as you can just turn up with some bait and handrails and you are on your way.

The beach here is a type of gravelly/stony base and while it’s not uncommon to see kids down on the foreshore paddling in the water, it is not really a place to take the kids swimming. If you are looking to take the kids swimming then head to Redcliffe Lagoon which is a free lagoon and waterpark only minutes away from here.

Imagination Factor

Being beside the sea, Crockatt Park is sure to inspire nautical-themed role-playing and adventures. Take the children for a walk or ride on bikes or scooters along the seaside pathways and talk about what life at sea would be like, do a seaside scavenger hunt or play seaside ‘I Spy.’ You could even have a paddle in the water or take some fishing rods and throw in a line — you may even catch something!

Accessibility

Crockatt Park is pram and wheelchair accessible with flat pathways leading from the car park to the sheltered picnic area and on to the accessible toilet facilities. The path continues to the nearby jetty,  making for a beautiful seaside walk. The playground has a bark base and is covered with shade sails, though the flying fox and climbing structure is not shaded.

  • Unfenced playground
  • Bark base
  • Fort
