Ronnie Long Park is conveniently located right in front of Tallebudgera Surf Club at the Northern End of Palm Beach on the Gold Coast. It’s a fantastic play space for Brisbane Kids with unique and fun Surf Lifesaver theming, which is a great choice given the location between the Tallebudgera surf club and the beach.
Ronnie Long Park Playground
Ronnie Long Park is split into two main zones – the tower and transport zones. The tower structure is impressively big with different slides off each end, climbing walls, fireman poles and spirals, multiple platforms and a maze built in underneath.
The other section of the playground features a smaller climbing frame with slide, a plane / dune buggy / vehicle of your imagination on a sandy base and two swings on soft fall making this a very toddler friendly playground. There’s also a net swing and rope merry go round in this section and soft fall underfoot.
The surf lifesaver theming is consistent throughout the playground, with red and yellow boards, lifeguards wearing caps and looking through binoculars, flags, paddles and surf safety signs all featuring. From the top of the play structure, your kids can see a real lifeguard tower, the beach and the ocean.
It is is a popular play area that is easily viewed from the surf club deck and outdoor area, making it a great option for a casual weekend lunch, or somewhere to let off some steam after visiting the beach before grabbing a coffee and piling in the car to head back to Brisbane. It is also well shaded and there are toilet facilities next to the park. There is ample greenspace adjacent to the playground for a picnic rug or a game of ball.
The best part of Ronnie Long Playground is it’s proximity to the very popular Tallebudgera Creek, offering calm water for families with young families.
Imagination factor
The surf life saving theme lends itself to imagination play of rescues in the “ocean”.
Accessiblity
There isn’t anything particularly on offer that is accessible as such, although the surrounding concrete paths are flat and allow for both wheelchair and pram access. While the playground is partially fenced, little ones will still require supervision as the play space is next to a carpark.
