  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Jingeri Park Redlands

Last Updated: August 12, 2023

Jingeri Park is named after the Danggan Balun (Five Rivers) people, with “Jingeri” meaning “greeting all of you” in the Yugambeh language. This park serves as a gathering place for the community and was designed with sustainability in mind. It adds to the growing number of children’s playgrounds in the Redlands.

Jingeri Park playground

jingeri playground, redland city, with lighthouse feature.

Lendlease, in collaboration with the traditional owners of the land, have created a park with a picnic area, shade shelters, and a centrepiece play structure, an 8.5m lighthouse and jetty, that reflects local landmarks.

The park pays homage to the bayside setting of the Shoreline community and the Redlands as a whole.

The Jingeri Park playground has been designed with climbing and sliding in mind with several options offered to scale the elevated playgrounds with 2 slides to come back down.

The centre structure resembles a lighthouse and contains two slides, one sitting at the top of the lighthouse while another smaller slide exits halfway down. We appreciate this multi-age engagement opportunity. It is always nice to be able to cater for two different ages of kids in one playground.

The highest and longest(tunnel) slide extends from the lighthouse and travels through a delightful ocean-designed brick wall.

Jingeri Park also showcases native flora, including three fig trees being relocated from the Shoreline site, chosen for their ties to First Nations culture and local plant species. The park will be located near the display village and information centre for the Shoreline community.

Imagination factor

It goes without saying, from the pictures, that this park could very well be home to a real lighthouse, while the surrounding blue flooring represents the ocean floor. Budding lighthouse keepers and explorers will especially enjoy this theme!

Accessibility

The paths are wide and most of the playground contains a sturdy and flat surface making it accessible to those in wheelchairs and with prams.

Jingeri Park Facilities

  • No toilets (lobby/ask your local councillor)
  • multi-level playground
  • Two tunnel slides
  • elevated platform (climb via netting up onto the platform)
  • Swings
  • Climbing wall (sloped and vertical)
  • Spinning top
  • Several shade sails
  • Benches and picnic tables

Local’s Tip

Stop for coffee at one of the pop up letorias at Shoreline and then enjoy your coffee while you watch the kids play in the beautiful Brisbane sunshine.
