  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

George Clayton Park in Wynnum

Last updated: August 9, 2023

Grab the buckets and shovels and get ready for ‘beach themed’ imaginative play at this recently renovated, fully fenced park in Brisbane’s East. George Clayton Park offers a popular nautical-themed playground suited to kids of all ages and abilities, which can be enjoyed all year round.

The Manly Wynnum Esplanade is home to the George Clayton Park – known to locals as, “The Lighthouse Park.” As the name suggests kids can enjoy traversing a miniature replica lighthouse. Intrepid travellers can head up the winding stairs and be treated to beautiful views over Moreton Bay when the reach the top.

The best part? As part of the recent renovations, council have added a special fence around the lighthouse for toddler’s safety. It’s now only accessible via a fenced gate, to ensure little ones can safely have an adult in tow before making the journey up to the top.

There are two pirate-themed playgrounds to enjoy at George Clayton Park.

The larger ship is suited to children ages 5-8 and comes packed with fun activities! From a pirate wheel to steer, a porthole to view scallywags and even a special escape route (the slide).

For adventurous children there’s even a flying fox to ‘walk the plank’ off the side of the ship. Kids will love jumping off the ship and zooming over the ‘ocean’ – thankfully there’s soft sand beneath, as there’s no landing platform on the other side.

Kindy kids and smaller toddlers will delight in the second pirate ship, made with the little ones in mind. Peer out the periscope and keep your eyes peeled for mermaids. Underneath the play set is the ship’s galley where they can pretend to be cooking up a storm for the crew above.

If children want to put their feet up there are also three terrific swings nearby. One for older children, a tyre swing and an all-abilities swing.

Kids full of energy can bring their scooters or stroll along the esplanade across the street. Take in the beautiful bay views and why not treat yourself to a coffee along the way?

An all-abilities spinning play set is currently under construction and is due to open soon.

Ahoy me hearties!  Brisbane Kids can live out their Captain Hook dreams at the pirate ship playgrounds at George Clayton Park.

Before your sailors ‘set sail’ they can test the barometer and determine what the weather will be like that day. According to the sign it might even be snowing in Brisbane – anything is possible when you’re playing make believe!

The kids will love climbing the replica lighthouse and offers a lovely gross motor challenge for smaller children.

Accessibility at George Clayton Park

George Clayton Park has modern wheelchair-accessible toilet facilities.

Concrete paths are throughout the park area and along the waterfront ideal for walking, bike and scooter riding. It is also suitable for both wheelchairs and prams.

The playground equipment is suited to a variety of ages and abilities and is fully fenced. The waterfront is fenced from the adjacent walking path.

The flat grassy spaces surrounding the park, picnic shelters, electric barbeques and accessible toilet facilities make this an ideal bayside park for parties and picnics.

Please note: dogs are not permitted inside the fenced playground area.

What We Thought of George Clayton Park

It goes without saying that we love a fully fenced playground, especially one that is by the water. The sand play element is always welcomed by our little Brisbane Kids, especially if you bring along some spades, buckets and trucks.

Climbing the lighthouse is also cool, especially looking out around the area to see what interesting things you can see. A great park for young families.
