Tucked away in a quiet street is Tom O’Neil Park Oxley. It is a hidden delight with engaging equipment for various age groups and sheltered picnic tables, BBQs and pleasant landscaping.
Tom O’Neil Playground
A standout feature of Tom O’Neil playground is that the equipment is organised into two distinct zones, a playground for toddlers and younger children and a space for older children. As these areas are close to one another, parents have clear vision of both spaces.
The toddler zone has a sand base and equipment that encourages little Brisbane Kids to use sand in their play. So, if your little Brisbane kid enjoys sand play, they will love it here!
There is a toddler-size play fort with a tiny climbing ladder and stepping platforms to the top. A small slide or a fireman’s pole provide a quick way back to the ground. Next to the fort is a bouncy seesaw that could fit four small children. This space also has a stand-on spinner and four swings, including two infant swings. Shade sails cover the toddler side of the playground.
Adjacent to the toddler play area is an area for older children with a sizeable rope-based climbing frame offering many options for children who enjoy climbing or testing their balance. Nearby is a medium size flying fox, an angled spinning ring and a net swing. This area has a bark play base. Unfortunately, there isn’t any shade in this section of the playground.
On the other side of the toddler playground is an open grassy field with some goalposts. This is an ideal space for children who love running or playing ball sports. A park bench is situated close by for parents to sit and watch children playing in this open area.
Imagination Factor
Bring your diggers as the sand is ready for moving about; roads and castles need to be built! Older children can practise their ninja or parkour skills as they race to the top of the climbing structure.

What we thought of Tom O’Neil playground
We think this playground is an excellent option for parents with children of different ages, as there’s a distinct toddler area and an area for older children. Having these play spaces positioned close together means parents can easily watch everyone.
On our next visit, I would bring a coffee for mama, some sand toys and a soccer ball. These will keep everyone happy for hours.
