With a $1.8 million upgrade, this playground now stands as a glittering star in Mabel Park with plenty to climb, a junior skills track, creek bed and more. The bright yellow colour scheme is truly a delight to behold. So, whether you want to run, scoot, climb, or shoot hoops, there is an abundance to entertain families at this expansive Logan park.
Mabel Park Playground
The main play fort in Mabel Park is a prominent, tall tower enclosed with metal mesh. Agile climbers can negotiate rope nets, tunnels and overlapping platforms as they journey to the top. Fisheye windows provide fantastic vantage points of the park, while two giant tunnel slides give a thrilling ride down to the ground.
Younger children can climb and slide on a smaller play fort with bridges, steps and a climbing net. The sandy base will surely be a hit with toddlers who love to dig.
A scattering of logs and stepping-stone stumps provide an exciting place to develop balance and stability. There is also an assortment of swings.
Inspired by the nearby creek, the playground features a creek bed of stone boulders, hand-operated water pumps, and a water misting system.
Adjacent to the creeks is a junior skills bike and scooter track. Here, little learners can improve their skills and gain confidence in navigating obstacles and observing road signs.
The style and layout of the seating at Mabel Park playground deserve a special mention. An assortment of fixed, cafe-style chairs and tables surround the playground, creating a piazza feel. This seating allows adults to catch up with a coffee while staying close to the activity. A few sun lounges and undercover picnic benches round out a great selection of seating rarely seen in a public park.
For other children and teens, there is a basketball half-court, a space for volleyball, some gym equipment and plenty of open grassy areas for ball games.
Mabel Park Imagination Factor
Little wildlife warriors will love to pretend they are exploring a misty jungle while playing in the creek bed. Alternatively, the sandy base is perfect for diggers and trucks to help build sandcastles. The cafe-style seating is an ideal spot for a game of Fancy Restaurant.
Accessibility at Mabel Park

What We Thought of Mabel Park
Our family was excited to visit Mabel Park and found so much to explore on our visit. Even though we were there on a hot summer’s day, there were plenty of shady places to play or rest.
We especially loved the water pumps in the creek bed. As Mabel Park is only a kilometre from Ikea, it is a wonderful destination for families needing physical activity before or after a shopping session.
