  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Newport Park

Last Updated: October 5, 2023
Boat play structure at Newport Park.

Active Brisbane Kids will love exploring Newport Park. The spacious playground has a nautical theme and is located a stone’s throw from the picturesque Newport waterways.

Newport Park playground

Climbing, sliding and role-playing in this park is guaranteed to entertain and spark playfulness. The play areas are broken up into three areas.

Toddler fort with slide at Newport Park.

The first area is suited to toddlers and contains a small fort with opportunities for climbing and of course sliding. A rocker can also be found in this area.

The next area, which can be accessed by a little walkway, contains a large climbing net. But that’s not all, Brisbane Kids can play in the toy boat which can be rocked to replicate sailing in the rough seas,  bounce on the spring rocker with friends or spinner until they are dizzy on the pyramid spinner.

Colourful playground structure at Newport Park.

Perhaps the focal point of the playground is the nautical-themed play structure which is shaped like a boat. Brisbane Kids can climb aboard and check out the view from the top of the boat or play with the themed play panels which adorn the fort. Little ones can get their bearings with a compass, checking the weather or search for treasure.

Concrete pathway leading to grassy open space at Newport Park.

Wide, open, grassy spaces surround the playground when families can enjoy an epic game of tiggy, kicking the football, having a game of cricket or just running around, burning off excess energy. The concrete pathway encircles the whole grassed area and is perfect for those learning to ride.

Imagination Factor at Newport Park

Newport Park is a wonderful place to let your children use their imagination whilst playing on the nautical inspired play equipment. Pirates can practice their climbing skills, whilst fishermen and fisherwomen can pretend to sail the seas or cast a line from the stationary play boat. The fort, which looks like a steamboat, is the perfect spot for the children to navigate the ship, find hidden treasure or plot the weather on the activity boards. They can even slide down to the galley to cook up a feast.

Newport Park Accessibility

Shaded pathway with bench seat at Newport Park.

Access Newport Park playground from the carpark is by way of a concrete path, which continues in a loop around the large grassed area. This path is a safe place for little ones to practice their riding skills on bikes, scooters or even skates as it is surrounded by grass and not too close to roads. Prams and wheelchairs could also use this path to take in the peaceful surroundings.

There is not a lot of shade at this playground, though there is a large undercover picnic area with electric BBQ’s which provides shelter from the elements. Accessible toilets, with a baby change table are also located within the park.

What We Love About Newport Park

Play equipment with bark base at Newport Park.

Our family visits Newport Park regularly. One child loves to practice her riding, safely encircling the grassed area on the wide concrete path, while the other child loves to bring the footy or cricket set and practice his skills in the large grassed area. A play on the playground also creates some excitement. As a parent I love that this is a quiet playground with plenty of space for ball games, riding and having a picnic.

How To Get to Newport Park

Newport Park is located on the corner of Spinnaker Boulevard and Lionheart Crescent in Newport, QLD.
