Nestled in the growing Riverbank Estate in Caboolture South is a fun filled park just waiting for Brisbane Kids to climb, swing, ride and play at it. With everything from sporting fields and courts, an epic playground, pump track, BBQ’s and toilets, it really does tick all the boxes for a great family day out.
Lightwood Parklands playground
Arriving at Lightwood Parklands you will notice the tall play structure which towers over the playground and the colourful shade sails providing protection from the sun.
The tower, which showcases the ocean theme of the playground is a fun challenge for climbers. There are numerous options for making your way to the top of the tower, and a number of escape routes. Depending on how high you make it, there are poles, an open slide and a tall, twisty tunnel slide.
A separate climbing net will test the skills of little climbers. There are even a few spots to sit down and relax should little legs tire while climbing.
A bank of swings, rockers, spinning toys and a workstation including pulleys and buckets are also available to amuse little ones when playing at Lightwood Parklands playground. Allow imaginations to soar using the ocean-themed equipment as props.
Aside from the super cool playground, this play area has other elements that will delight and entertain Brisbane Kids.
A funky ‘Parkitect’ pump track sits beside the playground and will see little ones zooming around in record speed on their scooter, balance bikes and maybe even skateboards. If you want to ride a little further, there are a network of concrete pathways working their way around the playground, courts and playing field.
Along the pathway, you will find a basketball half-court for those wanting to hone their ball skills or have a game of hopscotch. A large playing field, complete with rugby goal posts at either end will provide plenty of exercise for those wanting to kick and throw a ball.
Adults may even like to increase their heart rate at the Kompan outdoor exercise station, which is located not too far from the playground, near the basketball court.
Imagination Factor at Lightwood Parklands
As with any playground, a child’s imagination is their limit. Will they be a spider moving delicately across the climbing web or explorers trying to reach the top of the tower in record time?
Budding sporting stars can pretend they are playing in front of adoring fans as they dribble and shoot for the winning goal or perhaps score a touchdown on the rugby field. And if they brought their wheels, maybe they are doing time trials on the pump track.
Accessibility at Lightwood Parklands
While the playground at Lightwood Parklands doesn’t specifically have any accessible equipment, it does have concrete pathways weaving around it, which wheelchairs, prams, scooters etc could use.
The playground itself has shade sails, offering some shade, and there are a few covered picnic shelters dotted around the area, also offering protection from the sun. An onsite toilet block, including an accessible toilet and baby change facilities, is a vital aspect of this playground for visiting families.
This is an unfenced playground, in a busy estate, so children should have adequate supervision at all times.
