Sunshine Park lives up to its name, with a stunning bright colour scheme of green, gold and blue. It’s dazzling, just like an iconic summer’s day in Brisbane. With an epic tower and slide, toddler play area, basketball half-court, handball court and pump track, Sunshine Park is a great place to make family memories.
Sunshine Park Playground
When approaching the playground, the central tower is striking. With three levels standing at 8 metres tall, it beckons for you to come and play. The structure was inspired by tremendous rainforest trees and the creeping vines that grow around them.
Access to the different levels is achieved within the tower through vertical climbing tunnels, ball pommels and nets. The internal decks are at an incline to provide an extra challenge.
Once at the summit, the 4.5-metre tunnel slide is a thrilling way to return to the ground.
In the junior play area of the park is a cubby-style fort. Interactive elements decorate the walls of the space. The small slide is easy for little ones to get to using stable stepping platforms.
For children who love to run or play ball sports, Sunshine Park offers a basketball half-court, handball court and generous kickabout area, providing plenty of space to work up a sweat.
The park also contains a small pump track. The idea of a pump track is to manoeuvre around the course without pedalling. The pump track provides an additional challenge for competent riders. It is also a terrific spot for little people to push their diggers down the hills and watch them roll.
Sunshine Park has elements inspired by nature, like pebbles in the pavement, which create a dry riverbed.
Unfortunately, this playground does NOT have toilet facilities. These sometimes come later, so contact your local council if you would like to see additional facilities at this park.
Imagination Factor at Sunshine Park
As the landscaping matures and trees cast their shade over the playground, this will be an excellent place for an exploration inspired by the rainforest. Perhaps you are joining Andy on one of his animal adventures.
Check you have all the necessary supplies in your pack before you set off down the riverbed and through the forest. Upon reaching the central tower, climb carefully, observing your surroundings as you move up to the canopy level. Take note of any animals needing assistance and report back to HQ.
Accessibility at Sunshine Park
The playground is accessible by flat pathways; however, across the park, many textures exist to explore with bare feet. The ground level of the toddler play area includes interactive game panels.
An all-abilities carousel allows children in wheelchairs to move onto the equipment easily to play with friends. At the same time, the undulations on the pump track may suit some children who use a wheelchair.

What We Thought of Sunshine Park
We found Sunshine Park a fantastic place for children to explore and play. It is visually impressive and physically challenging, and although it isn’t a huge space, it presents many different play options.
We loved that families with children with varied interests will likely find something to become immersed in at this location. Shade is minimal, so bring a hat.
