Brosnan Drive Park is a sensory play park set among beautiful well-established trees in Capalaba. It features a basketball half-court, a great walking path and a nearby dog park and is a lovely place to relax and unwind.
Brosnan Drive Park Playground
Brosnan Drive Park is a playground with the usual structures to swing, climb and slide on but is also a space which incorporates fun sensory elements and opportunities for unstructured nature play.
Throughout the park there are multiple textured surfaces to explore: bumpy river-stones embedded in concrete (which is actually a reflexology path), artificial grass, textured timber steps, soft sand and fallen organic material on the ground (leaves, branches, bark).
Large sandstone blocks are perfect for climbing, balancing and hopping along or perhaps even sitting on to take a moment and appreciate your surroundings. A vertical leaf sculpture is also available for children who love to climb.
Bring your sand toys, trucks and garden fairies as the soft sand and organic material is great for building and creating.
For older Brisbane Kids who like a ball game, there is a basketball half-court and lots of open green space to kick a ball or throw a frisbee.
There is a covered picnic hut, table/chairs and BBQ if you are planning to stay a bit longer, but don’t forget – there are NO TOILETS.
Imagination Factor at Brosnan Drive Park
Brosnan Drive Park is a fabulous place to explore creativity, nature and sensory play. Fill a bucket with water from the water station, collect leaves, pods, twigs and rocks to make nature inspired art. Maybe make some mud pies and set up a cafe on the sandstone blocks.
Extend your child’s play by bringing along a few items from home like a magnifying glass, binoculars, a camera or even a book.
Accessibility at Brosnan Drive Park
Brosnan Drive Park is a relatively flat space after the initial slight decline, with some concrete paths, a fenced dog park nearby and street parking.
Trees provide natural shade and there is a bench seat, plenty of sandstone blocks to sit on and a picnic hut with a table and BBQ.
Unfortunately though this is an unfenced playground with no toilet facilities, making long periods of play here difficult.

Brosnan Drive Park was a lovely quiet space to spend time in, surrounded by nature. It was also an ideal place for unstructured discovery play. My toddler especially loved climbing up the ladder, crawling through the tunnel and zooming down the slide.
