  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Lemke Park and Skate Park Albany Creek

Last Updated: July 30, 2019

Lemke Park is an excellent park for active families. Play in the playground, walk, ride or scoot around the track, check out the skate park or have a game of soccer on the expansive field. It is a great place to head to on a sunny Brisbane day and spend a few hours in the great outdoors. What we love most is the variety of activities making it perfect for families with kids of multiple ages.

The Fun at Lemke Park

Designed to accommodate a wide range of ages, Lemke Park is a great spot to catch up with friends for a playdate or for playgroup excursions. There’s a small play fort for the pre-schoolers boasting a rope bridge, fireman’s pole, small slide, climbing wall, ladder and interactive panels.

The larger tower has a notable presence. Pre-schoolers can access the lower level via a climbing wall and walk through to a small slide. Access to the upper level requires a bit more skill but if perfect for challenging developing kids. Once children reach the upper level, they will be rewards with a small flying fox and a large slide. Adjacent to the towers is two spinners, a three-way rocker, and a swing set with a single toddler swing and regular swing.

The playground is in the corner of the park, with a large grassy area which is encircled by a concrete path. The pathway is perfectly flat and is the ideal place for younger kids to scooter around while their older siblings make the most of the adjacent skate bowl. Tucked away in another corner of the park is fitness equipment. If you are getting the impression this is quite an expansive area you would be right, you could easily set up a soccer game or cricket on the field.

Special Needs

While Lemke park has all the required amenities, which are all connected by concrete paths and ramp, this probably isn’t the best park for inclusive play. For those with limited mobility, there is very little to do. None of the play equipment is suited for wheelchairs or those with limited physical capabilities. For those looking for more inclusive play equipment, Kidspace at Chermside would be a better option for an Inclusive Brisbane playground.

Imagination factor

Lemke Park is a fantastic park to create an obstacle course, with numerous age-appropriate challenging elements. Scale the cargo netting to the top of your castle, or pretend to be a fireman sliding down the pole, an explorer climbing a rock wall, crossing a rope bridge the swinging from branch to branch along the monkey bars. Bring your bikes or scooters and race around the circuit.

The Albany Creek Skate Park

In the opposing corner of the park, following the concrete path, is a popular Brisbane skate park (which is visible from the main road). It has mini ramps, two deep bowls, quarter pipes, mini ramps, grind rails, grind boxes, and best of all, the lights come on at dusk so the kids can keep on riding. Next to the skate park is a half-court basketball court.
