Meadowlands Park, an area of the nature-filled Minnippi Parklands, has some fantastic play equipment that is protected by large shade sails for Brisbane Kids of varying abilities and ages to enjoy. A recent upgrade has seen the addition of a new fitness station and multi use court.
Meadowlands Park playground
Otherwise known as Preston Road Park and a part of the huge Minnippi Parklands, Meadowlands Park in Carindale has play equipment to suit a range of ages and abilities. It features climbing and balancing equipment, a slide and swings, as well as musical play equipment.
It also offers a huge amount of fun for older Brisbane Kids, with a small skatebowl, a basketball half-court and now a brand new multi use court and fitness station too. Shade sails provide plenty of shade over the playground and the entire park is covered in a generous scattering of trees. Bulimba Creek Bikeway runs through this park, so be sure to take your bikes and scooters and go for a ride on the paths along the creek. There is also a canoe ramp at this park for any enthusiasts keen to explore the Bulimba Creek Canoe Trail, which starts here. For our furry family members, a large off leash dog park is situated alongside the new fitness station which is generous in size and comes complete with a small obstacle course.
Imagination Factor
The nearby creek in the nature-filled Minnippi Parklands inspires plenty of wildlife adventures – feed the ducks or search for other creatures that call this area home. An almost hidden grassed pathway can be found just across the pathway from the skate bowl. This small, looping path winds amongst the trees and will give you a feeling of being lost in another world as you walk through it. Very beautiful and children will love running along it. The musical play equipment is perfect for mini maestros, whilst the skate bowl is small enough to provide an ideal practice area for younger skaters at quieter times of the day.
Accessibility
Meadowlands Park has accessible toilet facilities, with additional toilets located across the creek in the Meadowlands Picnicground area. There is a wheelchair accessible drinking fountain between the canoe ramp and Meadowlands Road car park. There is an off-street carpark adjacent to Meadowlands Park. Shade sails over the play equipment are a real bonus, and some of the equipment would be suited to less-abled bodies. Preston Road Park does have barbeques (one wood and one electric) and picnic shelters with tables, as well as unsheltered tables. All of the paths are flat and accessible.
