Barbaralla Park is a fun-filled park featuring a nature-inspired playground, basketball court, skate ramp, big shady trees and the all important toilets. Visiting families will be able to spend hours enjoying the peaceful surroundings, playing, exercising and relaxing.
Barbaralla Park Playground
Barbaralla Park features a large climbing net which leads to an epic crows nest. Avid climbers can scale the net, take in the views, and descend via the covered, tunnel slide.
If the main equipment is a bit much for your little ones, they may enjoy the smaller, less challenging climbing net and fort designed with smaller Brisbane Kids in mind. This equipment is perfect for developing confidence and gross motor skills while still playing and having fun.
Obstacle course challenges will keep curious kids entertained as they climb, swing, spin, balance, jump and leap around the equipment. For those wanting to chill out and swing among the trees, a nest swing is available and always popular among the kids (and adults too).
For older Brisbane Kids who like to bounce, shoot hoops and roll, the full-size basketball court and skate ramp will keep them happy. The skate area is suitable for skateboards, scooters and bikes and features ledges, rails, banks, and quarters.
If you are planning to stay a bit longer or perhaps host a party, there is a BBQ, water fountain, sheltered tables and toilets.
The playground is well-shaded and cooled by mature trees, although usual sun safety will still be needed.
Imagination Factor at Barbaralla Park
Leap from one stepping stone to the next while weaving around the playground. Make an obstacle course and then have a grown-up keep score of times. Or, climb high up to the crows nest and keep a watchful eye over the playground.
Find leaves, bark, twigs and rocks to make a nature-inspired installation. Adults can enjoy relaxing under the large trees while looking up for birds and native wildlife.
Accessibility at Barbaralla Park
Barabella Park has accessible pathways from Watland Street into the playground; there is also parking on Shortland Street but no path.
Many big trees provide natural shade with plenty of chairs to sit down. Unfortunately, this is an unfenced playground. There are toilets 100m from the playground at the park’s far end, just past the skate ramps.
