  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Peninsula Playground at the Broadwater Parklands

Last Updated: August 12, 2023
Sprawling playground at Peninsula Playground.

Located on the northern end of sunny Southport is a mega playground with all the wow factor to make it feel right at home in the theme park capital of Australia. The Peninsula Playground Broadwater Parklands is a spectacular addition to the Gold Coast’s growing list of must-visit playgrounds.

Peninsula Playground – Broadwater Parklands

Peninsula Playground is situated on prime waterfront real estate with uninterrupted views over the dazzling Gold Coast Seaway. This $5 million adventure playground is jam-packed with modern inclusions like in-ground trampolines, water play, rock climbing walls, multiple slides and a topical focus on ocean preservation with sea life features and facts found throughout.

The main centrepiece is a gigantic, spiral activity tower which, from a distance, looks more like a trendy art sculpture than a playground and will have the kids pleading with you to pull the car over.

Inside the tower is an intricate maze of cargo netting, platforms and rope tunnels leading upwards to a massive tube slide which snakes back down the structure’s core. Its twisted, tornado like design is full of challenging climbs making it probably most suitable for children four years old and above. It can be accessed via an equally hair-raising netted sky walk or by a platform about half way up the tower.

If your little people prefer to have the sand between their toes then there are dozens of ground level activities to keep Brisbane Kids engaged for hours. There are big, concrete peek-a-boo tunnels adorned with bright sea creatures, a boat with pretend shop front, large disc spinner and mini diggers to utilise the playground’s mostly sandy base.

There’s also a swing bay with water views and a harnessed, adaptive swing. Further exploration also reveals little surprises like interactive games, musical instruments and climbable dinosaur eggs which will certainly appeal to the toddler audience.

Nearby shelters and BBQs offer the perfect picnic setting while the playground itself it well-shaded from the hot Gold Coast sun. Also, bring your frisbees, kites and footy’s as the nearby grassy field provides ample space to stretch those legs and burn off some energy.

Peninsula Playground Imagination Factor

Peninsula Playground provides the perfect space for little imaginations to run wild with its eye catching design that mimics the curves and waves of the nearby water. Its ocean theme naturally lends itself to imaginary games of treasure hunting and pirate ship sailing alongside the water taps and playable boat.

The large variety of equipment provides endless opportunities for exploration and allows children of all ages and abilities to immerse themselves in play. The height of the main activity tower also introduces the concept of risky play while also encouraging collaborative interactions between children and their adults.

Peninsula Playground Accessibility

The play space at Peninsula Playground is split over two levels with stairs providing the quickest access between the top and bottom sections. The halfway entry point to the tower can be reached via a concrete path which travels behind the playground connecting the swings to the shelters. Accessible toilets are about 200 metres from the playground in the nearby Northern Pavilion.

What We Thought of Peninsula Playground

Did someone say destination playground? We think you’ll agree Peninsula Playground is one of the best playgrounds on the Gold Coast, and its sheer scale and amount of detail is sure to impress the whole family.

On our visit we saw lots of new friends helping each other through the tricky tower which was heart-warming to see. Parents and carers, be prepared to jump in there yourselves as small legs might find parts of the playground difficult to navigate. You will also need to be mindful of water safety as there is no barrier between the playground and the adjacent seaway.

How to Get Here

Peninsula Playground is located at the intersection of Marine Parade and Smith Street at Broadwater Parklands North, Southport QLD 4215.
