  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Family Fun At Eat Street Markets at Hamilton Northshore

Last Updated: December 28, 2023
Eat Street Kombi Alley

Hidden inside the vibrant shipping container city of Eat Street Northshore is a foodie heaven filled with culinary delights from across the world and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy. Located in Hamilton, this Brisbane landmark comes alive every Friday to Sunday where twinkling lights, enticing aromas and groovy music create an electric atmosphere that’ll keep you buzzing throughout the night.

Eat Street Markets for families

Over the past 10 years Eat Street Northshore has grown exponentially from humble beginnings to cementing itself as a Brisbane institution. It has become a go to destination for special occasions, first dates, out of town visitors and those weekend nights when you just don’t feel like cooking.

Originally what was only a dozen or so shipping containers turned eateries has now transformed into a mecca of over 70 speciality mini restaurants, bars, produce stores and two stages for live entertainment. This dazzling, riverside space is full of photo opportunities with bright neon signs of rainbows and angel wings giving it a real festival feel.

Most recognisable of all is the trademark “EAT” sign at the main entry which guarantees you’ve arrived at the right place. Eat Street is truly a feast for the senses with the artistic flair and a hint of romance that makes it feel more special than your usual market fare.

Food and Drink options

Diners are absolutely spoilt for choice at Eat Street Northshore with food offerings from six of the seven continents. Luckily for visitors, the shipping container restaurants are mainly organised into categories with designated sections for American diner meals, Asian street food delicacies and seafood selections.

The fairy light lit main hall also contains an eclectic mix of food from juicy burgers and smoked ribs to spicy Mexican, curries, pizza and healthy salads.

You’ll want to leave room for dessert as Kombi Alley serves up the craziest sweet treats and most “instagrammable” creations.

There is an abundance of outdoor and undercover seating options to choose from depending on the weather and a couple of bars for the grown-ups to enjoy.

For the kids

Eat Street Northshore is a great place to take the kids with colour, sound and excitement to be found around every corner from the sparkling lights to energetic live performers. There is plenty on offer for the kids including a toy store, fairy floss making demonstrations and some of the food venders have meals specifically created for the littlest diners.

Upon entry at the main gate, you’ll also find a small games arcade with a variety of machines for young and old players. Even your fur kids can come along for the night provided they are people-friendly and kept on a leash. While you’re in the area there’s also the fantastic, industrial style Hercules Street Park about 3 minutes up the road which is absolutely worth a visit.

Admission and Accessibility

The markets are open on Friday and Saturday from 4pm to 10pm and Sunday from 4pm to 9pm.

There’s a small entry fee of $6 per person with children under 13 and carers of persons with a disability free of charge. The space is well catered to prams and wheelchairs with wide, sealed pathways although these do get very busy during peak times.

There are two disabled toilet facilities with baby change tables and a portable wheelchair ramp if required.

You shouldn’t have any problems finding a car park with over 1,400 free parking spaces located on site which is very convenient especially when travelling with young children on board. Public transport is another good option with bus stop and CityCat terminals only a short walking distance away.

Eat Street Markets are located in the same suburb as Hercules Street Park Hamilton, perfect for a pre-markets playdate

What We Thought of Eat Street Markets

Eat Street Northshore is a must see Brisbane attraction with its carnival vibe, delicious food and magical photo opportunities. Make sure you come with big appetites, room for dessert and maybe a jumper for those chilly winter nights along the river. The food is a little bit more expensive than your usual cafe or food truck which could be expected from this boutique market setting. Overall, we think Eat Street is a great excuse to keep the kids up past their bedtime to enjoy a whole lot of market magic and fun.
