  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Last Updated: March 5, 2024
Strawberry chocolate croissant from Flour and Chocolate.

Everyone loves desserts and ice creams, especially kids. We thought we would ask our Brisbane Kids Facebook followers for their thoughts on the best places in Brisbane to enjoy delicious desserts and ice cream, and these are the results (in no particular order).

If you know of wonderful dessert place which we don’t have listed here, or anything that has changed, please let us know in the comments below.

The Top 10 Dessert Places in Brisbane in no particular order, determined by a very casual nomination process through social media.

1. Flour & Chocolate

78 Old Toombul Road, Northgate | 621 Wynnum Road, Morningside | 77 Redcliffe Parade, Redcliffe

If you haven’t sampled the amazing treats from Flour & Chocolate yet, we suggest you get to your nearest store ASAP! While there is a huge selection of sweet and savoury morsels here to devour, we highly recommend the pastries, croissants, cakes, and brownies. With regular favourites and rotating weekly specials, there is always something new to try. Knead Gelato is also sold at Flour & Chocolate’s Morningside and Northgate stores, making it the ultimate dessert destination.

2. Max Brenner

1/2 Little Stanley Street, South Bank | Hyperdrome, cnr Pacific Highway & Bryants Road, Loganholme

We couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw the amount of chocolate on offer at Max Brenner! Chocolate waffles for breakfast? Why not?! With a Mexican hot chocolate? SURE! Honestly, if you love chocolate and you haven’t been to Max Brenner’s, then GO NOW! But be warned – they are super popular.

3. Gelateria Cremona

5/151 Baroona Road, Rosalie

The lovely Gelateria Cremona is famous for its delicious gelati, made fresh daily for your yummy enjoyment. They have an amazing array of flavours, including Ferrero Rocher that has actual chunks of Ferrero inside!

4. Gelato Messina

1/109 Melbourne Street, South Brisbane | 48 James Street, Fortitude Valley

Unique flavours of ice cream are what Gelato Messina does best. Their menu consists of 35 permanent flavours (we highly, highly recommend the Salted Caramel & White Chocolate!!), along with several rotating weekly specials. Gelato Messina even has their own dairy farm to produce the super creamy Jersey cow milk used in their recipes. Check out their special birthday cakes and seasonal creations too – they are incredible!

Some of the best, traditional Italian gelati in Brisbane can be found at La Macelleria Gelateria. Made with fresh milk, fresh cream, sugar, and natural flavours, don’t mistake this for ice cream! Flavours include Stracciatella, Pistacchio, Caffe, Tiramisu, and more.

7. Eat Street Northshore

221 MacArthur Avenue, Hamilton

If you want a variety of desserts served up in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere, then head to Eat Street Northshore. Visitors can indulge in sweet treats from a range of vendors including Chocolate Komberry Co., Dutch De Lites, Carcamo Gourmet Caramel Apples, Churro Lab and the Dessert Lab. The hard part will be trying to decide what to eat first (we say skip dinner and go straight to dessert!)!

8. Baskin-Robbins

Head to the Baskin-Robbins for a list of Brisbane locations.

Baskin-Robbins stocks a variety of the most beautiful ice cream flavours. Each to their own, but we believe their Chocolate Mousse Royale would be a hit with the most dedicated of chocolate lovers. Baskin-Robbins also offer banana splits, sundaes, ice cream cakes, waffles and brownies.

9. Milani House of Gelato in Hamilton

4/53 Racecourse Road, Hamilton

Milani House of Gelato has won all sorts impressive awards. Not knowing there even were awards for this type of thing, we are impressed! Milani was nominated several times by Brisbane mums and dads, so this place must be good! Their website shows an array of yummy desserts; from the decadent Banana Split or Death by Chocolate, to the Coppa Della Casa featuring fruit salad and sorbet. Check out Milani for custom-made gelati cakes and other desserts to take away.

10. Amoroso Gelateria

4/75 Welsby St, New Farm | 4/107 Latrobe Terrace, Paddington | Pinelands Shopping Centre, Shop 7/663 Beenleigh Rd, Sunnybank Hills

Last, BUT NOT LEAST! Amoroso Gelateria focuses one what’s important – top quality, natural ingredients that are seasonal and have been locally sourced wherever possible. This results in consistently delicious and flavoursome gelato in a range of flavours that will keep you coming back to try more.
