Best Buffet Breakfast Gold Coast https://brisbanekids.com.au/best-buffet-breakfast-gold-coast/ https://brisbanekids.com.au/best-buffet-breakfast-gold-coast/#respond Wed, 01 May 2024 04:24:28 +0000 https://brisbanekids.com.au/?p=351458 Looking for the best buffet breakfast on the Gold Coast? We have done the research and have put together a list of what we believe are some of the finest buffet breakfast experiences. Based on a number of features—including the variety of food, atmosphere, unique inclusions, family-friendly facilities, and value for money—these buffet breakfast Gold Coast venues will keep you going back for more, and more, and more!

Citrique, Surfers Paradise

If you are looking for a buffet breakfast on the Gold Coast that caters magnificently for everyone’s palettes, is set in elegant surrounds, and has been awarded an Australian Good Food Guide Chef Hat for two consecutive years (2023 and 2024), then you don’t need to look any further than Citrique. The variety here is incredible, with all the usual hot and cold buffet favourites you would expect, but also some pleasant extras you didn’t realise you needed until you were presented with them. With both Asian and Western-style breakfasts on the buffet, as well as an egg station, pancakes, and more, it’s the fact that they also cater for those with gluten-free requirements that makes us love this buffet – hands-down.

Cost: Adults- $49.50 |  Children (5-12 years) – $30.00
Breakfast Hours: 6:30am – 10:30am daily
Address: 158 Ferny Ave, Surfers Paradise

Bazaar Restaurant, Surfers Paradise

The Bazaar buffet breakfast option at QT on the Gold Coast really has to be seen to be believed. Not only is the decor warm and inviting (like their line of chefs just waiting to answer any questions or produce your own unique desires), but the range of traditional and international offerings here are simply inspiring. Whether you’re after delicate French-style pain au chocolat, bagels, pastries, or donuts, Asian-inspired congee, miso soup, dim sums, or steamed pork buns, os simply a traditonal hot fry up or cold continental selection, you won’t know where to start! Add to that the stations for omelettes, Scandinavian-style cold meats, and waffles, and you will need to wear your extra-stretchy pants to make sure you have room to fit it all in! Bazaar Restaurant’s buffet breakfast is an absolute winner for variety, quality, and service, in our eyes.

Cost: Adults- $49.00 |  Children (5-12 years) – $19.00
Breakfast Hours: 6:30am – 10:30am daily
Address: 7 Staghorn Ave, Surfers Paradise

SkyPoint Bistro and Bar, Surfers Paradise

Buffet breakfast Gold Coast SkyPoint Bistro and bar.

A buffet breakfast on the Gold Coast that gets some serious points just for its insane location and views has to be the one hosted by the SkyPoint Bistro and Bar. While tickets to the buffet are bought on the ground floor, all of the action takes place 77 floors above the ground in the rooftop restaurant, which boasts 360 degree views of the Gold Coast landscape below and beyond. That’s right, you can enjoy your breakfast spread 230m above sea level, your head in the clouds, and your tastebuds in heaven, as you delight in all the joys a buffet breakfast should include. The icing on the delectable pastry? Your buffet ticket also includes entry to the SkyPoint Observation Deck too!

Cost: Adults- $44.00 |  Children (aged 3 – 13) – $30.00
Breakfast Hours: 7:30am – 10:30am daily
Address: 3003 Surfers Paradise Blvd, Surfers Paradise

Waves Restaurant, Surfers Paradise

Waves Restaurant in Surfers Paradise bills itself as being the venue for ‘people who love buffets’ and it appears locals agree with this assessment whole-heartedly too. With a beautiful setting and an abundance of buffet breakfast food options available, we love that the whole family can happily be catered for here. All of the favourites are there, so you will leave satisfied; regardless if it is a fry up, continental selection, bakery goods, pancakes, or tropical fruit style brekkie you are craving. A talented chef is even on hand to cook your eggs any way you like them (which is like heaven to a parent who has family members who all prefer a different type!).

Cost: Adults- $39.00 |  Children (5-12 years) – $19.50
Breakfast Hours: 6:30am – 10am daily
Address: 3032 Surfers Paradise Blvd, Surfers Paradise

The Star Gold Coast, Broadbeach

For a buffet breakfast on the Gold Coast experienced with true grandeur, the Harvest Buffet at The Star might be just what you are looking for. You won’t be disappointed here, with a dedicated omelette station with a selection of fillings, eggs made to order, pancakes, waffles, seasoned fruits, Asian dishes, baked goods, and all the fry-up options you could want as well. The restaurant is happy to cater to allergies and they have an actual coffee cafe for those who like their blend a particular way. In fact, all of the buffet options here (lunch and dinner included) are well worth checking out. We particularly love their floor-to-ceiling glass walls that overlook the pool, the height-appropriate children’s buffet, as well as a very tempting dessert station with its mesmerising 2-metre chocolate fountain!

Cost: Adults- $39.90 |  Children (5-12 years) – $19.90
Breakfast Hours: 6:30am – 10am daily
Address: 1 Casino Dr, Broadbeach

Terraces Restaurant, Main Beach

Buffet breakfast Gold Coast Terraces Restaurant.

IMAGE CREDIT: Terraces Restaurant, Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Gold Coast

Housed inside the opulent Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Gold Coast, Terraces Restaurant happily delivers on its guest expectations of quality when it comes to its buffet breakfast spread. With views overlooking their stunning resort pool, their buffet includes endless coffee and tea, as well as gluten free and vegetarian options. If your kids aren’t likely to make an effective dint in the buffet, the restaurant also has a ‘Kids Corner’ menu, with plenty of filling and delicious options for the kids at a cheaper cost. We love this buffet location, as, when you are completely full, you can roll out for a quick dip in the pool, or, just beyond it, can access the beach from a back gate at the hotel.

Cost: Adults- $48.00 |  Children (aged 4 – 12) – $24.00
Breakfast Hours: 6.00am – 11:00am daily
Address: 71 Seaworld Dr, Main Beach

Shoreline Restaurant, Main Beach

Not only is this resort situated right next to one of the best theme parks on the Gold Coast, and is located right across the road from the beach, but the buffet breakfast at the Shoreline Restaurant at Sea World Resort is also one of the best-value, quality buffets in the area. At only $32 for adults and a very reasonable $15 for kids (aged up to 13 years too!), we love this place for its value for money for families. Although their price is so low, their quality and quantity of food is not – with an egg station, all the hot and cold food options a buffet breakfast should have, pancakes, waffles, bakery goods, and continental options too. You can also purchase a barista made coffee, thickshake, or freshly squeezed juice if you want something more tailored than the juice and coffee station included in the buffet.

Cost: Adults- $32.00 |  Children (4-13 years) – $15.00
Breakfast Hours: 6:30am – 10am daily
Address: Sea World Dr, Main Beach

Kalinda Restaurant, Benowa

Although not in a super fancy restaurant with international buffet options on the offer, we have listed the buffet breakfast at Kalinda for a couple of reasons. One is because it will give you all that you need in a buffet breakfast for a very reasonable price compared to other buffets hosted on the Gold Coast. Two, because it is in the lovely RACV resort that features a beautiful setting and glorious poolside view. But, one of the things we think families – ok kids – will love the most? The buffet comes with its own ice-cream station! It may not be what most parents imagine when heading somewhere to feed the kids first up in the morning, but it’s almost definitely a dream come true for any child! For the adults, there are made-to-order eggs, waffles, daily specials, and barista made coffee too.

Cost: Adults- $39.00 |  Children (5-12 years) – $15.00
Breakfast Hours: 6:30am – 10:00am (10:30am weekends)
Address: RACV Royal Pines Resort, Level 2, Ross Street, Benowa

Cove Café, Sanctuary Cove

Buffet breakfast Gold Coast Cove Cafe Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove.

The recently reimagined Cove Cafe at the Intercontinental Hotel Sanctuary Cove has a delightfully fresh and airy, tropic-inspired aesthetic reflecting the natural beauty of Sanctuary Cove. If you are staying at the hotel, the breakfast will be included, but if you are heading to Sanctuary Cove to take in all this small marina has to offer, it is worth heading out early to enjoy the buffet spread on offer here. Relatively reasonable in cost, there is an omelette station with eggs cooked your way, fresh juices, seasonal fruit, international dishes, delicate pastries, and Vittoria Coffee. You can choose to sit indoors or outdoors.

Cost: Adults- $48.00 |  Children (5-12 years) – $25.00
Breakfast Hours: 6:30am – 10:30am daily

Ocean View Estate – Family Friendly Winery And Restaurant https://brisbanekids.com.au/ocean-view-estate-family-friendly-winery-and-restaurant/ https://brisbanekids.com.au/ocean-view-estate-family-friendly-winery-and-restaurant/#respond Tue, 16 Apr 2024 01:45:56 +0000 http://brisbanekids.com.au/?p=114539 Fancy a drive through the beautiful countryside, a gourmet picnic hamper overlooking a rural vineyard and a glass of wine in your hand as you watch your Brisbane Kids roll down a big grassy hill, over and over again?

This heavenly place exists just 45km from Brisbane at Ocean View Estate Winery (near the township of Dayboro) and makes a lovely weekend activity for families, particularly if you have something to celebrate.

Ocean View Estate Winery – wine and food options

A plate of food at the restaurant at Ocean View Estate.

If you’re willing to tag team with your partner or friend, whilst the other entertains the kids outdoors, you can enjoy the wine tasting at the Cellar Door. The range of wines, which are made from estate grown grapes, include reds, whites, desert wines, port and sparkling wines. You might like to purchase a bottle to enjoy once you get home and have the kiddies tucked up in bed.

The restaurant, which offers both indoor and outdoor dining (on the big deck overlooking the vineyard) has a small children’s menu.

However, the most child friendly dining option would have to be the gourmet picnic hampers which can be enjoyed on the sunny lawn overlooking the small lake and vineyard. There are horses in the nearby fields, a pretty rotunda and a lake crossing for the kids to explore. Take a picnic rug or camping chairs and set yourselves up for the afternoon!

Please note – no BYO food or drinks are to be consumed at Ocean View Estate due to liquor licensing.

Is Ocean View Estate Winery family friendly?

Views of green grass and a lake at Ocean View Estate.

Although there are no playgrounds or specific activities for children, there are plenty of wide open spaces for them to run free. Be aware that the lake is not fenced, and so adult supervision is required at all times.

Various family-friendly events are held during the year, such as the recent Alpaca Week (complete with baby alpacas to pet). Follow their Facebook page to stay up to date with what is happening.

There is also accommodation on the property – but these cottages are more tailored to couples.

The Mathema Gallery

A view of The Mathema Gallery.

In August 2023, the co-owners of Ocean View Estates, Dr Calvin and Rosemary Irons, opened up the Southern Hemisphere’s only mathematics gallery/museum – The Mathema Gallery. Conveniently situated at the entrance of the estate, there is no excuse for not visiting as you drive past.

Two children playing with the hands-on activities at The Mathema Gallery.

Visitors can explore the history of numbers and mathematics, in an interactive and fun way. With lots of hands-on activities and a well stocked gift shop, don’t just drive past this Gallery when visiting Ocean View Estate – stop in. Oh and did we mention entry is free!

What We Thought of Ocean View Estate

Relaxing at Ocean View Estate is a wonderful way to spend any weekend or celebrate a special occasion and we make a point of visiting at least once a year.

The food and wine is spectacular, as are the views. The children happily enjoy the wide open spaces, listening to the birds and trying to spot animals in the neighbouring paddocks.

For a touch of fun and education, a visit to The Mathema Gallery is a great way to work up an appetite before visiting the winery. A definite family favourite!

While You Are in the Area

If you are making the effort to visit Ocean View Estate, you should take a moment to enjoy the surrounding area.

Dayboro is only 10 minutes down the road and is a lovely destination to visit at any time of the year. Wander the streets, do a spot of shopping, sample delicious treats, have a play on the playground all while enjoying the country charm of this cute little town.

For a more energetic activity strap on your hiking shoes and discover Mount Mee. Gorgeous scenery and bushwalking options await you, or maybe you would just like to relax and enjoy a picnic. Either way, Mount Mee is a great place to visit when in the area. You may even be lucky enough to spot a goanna!!

How to Get to Ocean View Estate

Ocean View Estate is located at 2557 Mt Mee Road, Ocean View.

The very calm and peaceful rainforest walk along tropical pathways will be sure to encourage conversations about plant types, flowers, colours and size. This is a child-friendly walk with small, flat paths. There is a nursery selling a range of plants if inspired to buy something for home.

What We Loved About King Country Bayside

Three ponies eating hay at King Country Bayside, Thornlands.

As a coffee loving parent I adore any venue where I can sit and relax while I sip my hot coffee while the kids are happily entertained. This cafe has plenty to keep the whole family occupied, and the coffee is good too.

We always start with a drink and snack at the cafe, while the kids play. Once our bellies are full we then have a stroll around the rainforest walk and of course we can’t visit without spending time with the friendly animals

Visiting King Country Bayside is a great place to spend an hour or two and tick all the boxes with young kids – food, play, nature and animals!

If you are interested in a similar venue less than 20 minutes away you may like to visit Capalaba Produce or for a fun playground nearby try Thornlands Community Park

Restaurants With Robot Waiters In Brisbane https://brisbanekids.com.au/restaurants-with-robot-waiters-in-brisbane/ https://brisbanekids.com.au/restaurants-with-robot-waiters-in-brisbane/#comments Mon, 26 Feb 2024 02:52:33 +0000 https://brisbanekids.com.au/?p=349411 The robot waiter revolution has well and truly hit Brisbane, with a growing number of restaurants across the city offering the novelty dining experience of having your meal served to you by an interactive robot. While we’ve long enjoyed the fun of sushi train restaurants delivering Japanese food via a miniature train, restaurants with robot waiters in Brisbane take it up a notch by having a robot deliver anything on the menu directly to you. These robots roll right up to your table to deliver your food and drinks on demand.

A different and fun experience for families that the kids just can’t get enough of, we’re giving you the low-down on robot waiters and recommending some of our favourite restaurants with robot waiters in Brisbane to check out with the kids.

How Do Restaurants With Robot Waiters Work?

Unlike sushi trains, robot waiters deliver directly to your table on demand. This means no guessing what’s on that plate, gives you the ability to customise your order, and allows you to order as you go.

Ordering

Most restaurants with robot waiters in Brisbane will have a QR code assigned to your table for ordering. Scanning the QR code will give you access to the full menu on your phone, where you can add items to your order and customise them as required. Generally, you will select your food and drinks and pay for them as you submit your order, but some restaurants may allow you to submit the order and pay the total at the end of your meal.

Food delivered to your table by robot

One of the great things about restaurants with robot waiters is that, as soon as each of the items on your order is ready, they will be delivered to your table. This is perfect for families, especially those with younger children who might get impatient, and it’s something that the kids can really get involved in.

While you are waiting for your meals, the robots provide great entertainment in themselves. Of course, the excitement increases when the robot waiter comes rolling towards your table! The robot will know exactly where to stop, so be sure to give it a minute to position itself. Once it stops moving, you can remove your food and drinks from the robot’s trays at your own pace. After the trays are clear, just push the button to let the robot waiter know it can go on its way.

Map of High Tea Venues in Brisbane

So, if you are looking for some time to wind-down time and relax with friends or try a new dining experience with the family, treat yourself to a high tea experience for something a little different and special.

What exactly can you expect from a Brisbane high tea?

Initially enjoyed in the evening at the ‘high’ or kitchen table, hence its name, the well-loved high tea has been around since the 1700s and after a recent resurgence is still going strong. As is the desire to put aside coffee-stained mugs and fast-paced lifestyles for two hours so we can delight in this quiet and refined ritual. Perfect for mother’s days, baby showers and every day in between, high teas are as much about the experience as they are about the refreshments.

If you haven’t experienced the delight of a high tea party yet, please let us entice you and invite you to do so. Many fantastic local places specialise in or cater for the high tea experience, and all welcome kids along too (replace the bubbly with some pink lemonade). Depending on the menu, prices generally start at about $40 per person, with bookings essential.

If you are the owner of a high tea establishment in Brisbane and would like us to review your venue, please email us at info@brisbanekids.com.au

Yatala Pies https://brisbanekids.com.au/yatala-pies/ https://brisbanekids.com.au/yatala-pies/#respond Fri, 29 Dec 2023 02:48:11 +0000 https://brisbanekids.com.au/?p=347264 It is hard to miss the ‘big pie’ and red roof of Yatala Pies when travelling north on the M1 – it’s a delicious pitstop which won’t disappoint! If you do not have enough time to get out of your car, stretch your legs and sit in the cafe, there is a very convenient and quick drive through option too.

About Yatala Pies

Yatala Pies pie in box.

Yatala Pies is an iconic pie shop for good reason. The pies, sausage rolls and pasties have yummy flaky pastry and are absolutely mouth watering. If you have a sweet tooth, you are in for a real treat, as there is a big selection of sweet pastries available too.

Yatala Pies is a family-owned business that has been a landmark in the Yatala area for more than 100 years. In fact, Yatala Pies is one of the oldest pie shops in Australia.

Yatala Pies welcomes everyone, with multiple areas to park and designated accessible parking located adjacent to ramp access into the pie shop. There is plenty of seating available inside where you can enjoy the cool air conditioning, as well as lots of seating outside on the covered veranda. An ATM is available if you’re needing cash, otherwise there are EFTPOS facilities to pay at the counter.

The Food At Yatala Pies

Yatala Pies food cabinets.

The Yatala Pies menu has all the traditional pies you would expect, along with optional sides. They cater for most dietary needs, with plenty of kid-friendly food available. For those who like sauce with their pie, there is a self-serve sauce station.

Their extensive menu includes –

  • Your traditional favourites, plus many more – plain pie, chunky steak pie, curry beef pie and a selection of sausage rolls ranging from plain to a beef, cheese and bacon sausage roll. For something different try, a chicken parmigiana pie or a lamb coconut curry pie.
  • There are a few vegetarian options – vegetable pie, triangles with different fillings and the vegan option is a red Thai peanut curry parcel.
  • If you need gluten free – phone ahead for gluten free options as these are available frozen or heated upon request.
  • Sides – peas, potato and gravy are optional sides. Hot chips, with or without chicken salt are sure to keep the kids happy.
  • Sweet pastries – the fridge is full of amazing looking desserts (it is hard to choose just one) – French vanilla slices, chocolate brownies, apple pies and a range of donuts are just some of the many sweet choices.
  • Take home options – cold family-size savoury pies and dessert pies are available to take home.

There is a cold drinks fridge and an ice cream freezer if the kids want something cold and sweet that they are familiar with.

All the basic barista coffee, hot chocolate and tea choices you would expect with milk options to suit most are also available. Don’t miss the chalkboard coffee and dessert special!

Accessibility At Yatala Pies

What We Thought Of Yatala Pies

Yatala Pies vanilla slice.

Yatala Pies is such a convenient stop with kids! Parking was easy and getting inside was simple – we used the steps to enter and the ramp to exit with no troubles whatsoever. I’m a vegetarian, and I can totally recommend the vegan red Thai peanut curry parcel – it was delicious! My kids shared and thoroughly enjoyed a sausage roll and a spinach and fetta triangle, which they devoured. Let’s not forget the French vanilla slice, yum! We will be back!

How To Get To Yatala Pies

Yatala Pies exterior.

Yatala Pies is located at 48 Old Pacific Highway, Yatala. Just take Exit 38 off the M1.
