Set in an idyllic location, Tommerup’s Dairy Farm provides a place to make precious family memories with a farm stay experience. Milk the cows, feed the animals and enjoy delicious produce from the farm larder or relax in the gorgeous farm surroundings of the picturesque Kerry Valley in Queensland’s Scenic Rim.
Experiences to Enjoy at Tommerup’s Dairy Farm
When staying at this 6th-generation working dairy farm, join the farmers in the mornings milking beautiful Jersey cows. Then in the afternoons, head across to the main farmhouse to feed the animals. You can lend a hand with bottle feeding the calves, smashing pumpkins for the pigs and throwing grain to the chickens and ducks. Of course, the hungry goats and sheep would love some food too.
A small coop near the farm stay accommodation is where hungry chickens and guinea pigs happily accept kitchen scraps.
The property also has access to the Albert River, with a lovely spot for a family picnic or a swim. Those who enjoy fishing might like to bring a rod along too. A short walk over the hill from the farm stay accommodation, Duck Creek offers another spot to discover.
If you’re unable to book a stay at Tommerup’s Dairy Farm, several open days are held throughout the year. Or meet the farmers and stock up on delicious regional goodies by participating in the Farm Gate Trail.

What We Thought of Tommerup’s Dairy Farm
On our visit, we stayed in the cottage with our four-year-old child. This accommodation is delightful for families like ours with younger kids. The cottage is small and rustic, but the thoughtful renovations and the host’s attention to detail ensured we had everything we needed for our stay. Inside the cottage was a basket of toys and some children’s books, which made our little one feel welcome.
Outside, the partially fenced yard was an ideal spot for him to play, while the back deck was a delightful spot to sit with a cup of tea or a glass of wine. Here we could watch the cows wander down for milking or catch a glimpse of some wallabies hopping passed.
Getting up close and interacting with the farm animals made this trip a memorable experience for us. Also, the produce from the Farm Larder was divine. Make sure you try the Jersey Girl double cream!
