Whites Hill Reserve

Suburb: Camp Hill

One of Brisbane’s most impressive fenced playgrounds, Whites Hill Reserve Playground in Camp Hill, is enormous. Overflowing with play options for kids of all ages and abilities, the playground is a hotspot for local families and attracts many visitors from outside of the area due to its location, setting, size, facilities and, of course, the fact that it is fully-fenced!

Sensory, water, nature play – this playground has it all. With plenty of shaded places for parents to sit, this is a popular park for birthday parties as all little guests have ample space to explore, with facilities and amenities all surrounded by the secure fencing system.

With a dual flying fox, mini bike run, crows nest, diggers, scooter tracks and more, this is easily one of the best-fenced playgrounds in Brisbane. Outside the fence line, other reserve features worth exploring are its sporting fields, dog park and nature trails.

Thornlands Community Playground

Suburb: Thornlands

When we first visited Thornlands Community Playground, we thought it was like a mini fenced-in adventure playland. This playground packs some serious punch!

With a vast netted climbing structure, giant slides, quaint little cubby, water play, dinosaur dig and nature play area being just a few of its highlights, it not hard to see why we think it is one of the best-fenced playgrounds in Brisbane. The Dr. Suess-like play space also features a two-person flying fox, ninja warrior-like climbing course, swings, and sensory and all-abilities play too!

Although there is seating and places to relax inside the fenced playground, just outside, there is a large oval where picnics can be had and kites flown as well. Plenty of concrete pathways that weave within the playground and outside are perfect for wheelchairs, prams, bikes and scooters to navigate with ease.

Ascot Park

Suburb: Ascot

If you are looking for a fenced playground perfect for toddlers, then we suggest you add Ascot Park to your list. Whilst it has all the usual play equipment you would expect, we love the three small feature cubbies at its centre the most.

Built low to the ground for easy access for all ages, two cubbies have a market and garden theme with quaint vegetable stairs, a letterbox, a tunnel, slide, a hammock and interactive sensory boards. The third cubby has a fireman theme and even comes with a firetruck extension! The imaginative play options here are simply endless and we love that for our Brisbane Kids.

Along with the cubbies, Ascot’s generously spaced park includes a water play area, a flat grass maze, and even an awesome dual-facing lounger swing you rarely see. With plenty of shade from sails and trees and an open field, half basketball court and cafes outside of the fenced area, Ascot Park is one of our favourite fenced playgrounds in Brisbane.

Spinnaker Park

Suburb: Newport

This fantastic, nautical-themed playground (more affectionately known as Livvi’s Place) is located adjacent to Newport’s man-made lake. Easily spotted by the tall sail structure that towers over the playground, Spinnaker Park features ample play equipment to entertain kids of all ages.

The stand-out feature of this lovely waterside park is the sail-shaped climbing tower with its cargo netting ladders and slides that offer a birds-eye view of all the action below. Once a child ascends the rope ladder, there are two metal slides to choose from to get down – the super-fast one at the top, or the slightly slower one from the middle level.

There is a strong emphasis on balancing, scrambling, sliding, and active and challenging play throughout Spinnaker Park’s playground. Kids have ample opportunity to practice balancing on the rubberised balancing steps and mounds as they step, leap and jump from one to the other. They can test their climbing skills on the cargo netting or haul themselves up the rope on the slope on the hill.

The Hills District All Abilities Playground

Suburb: Arana Hills

Another incredible fenced playground in Brisbane that has thought of everything and everyone is the Hills District All-Abilities Playground in Arana Hills.

Keeping things accessible, the park is large, its play equipment spaced out, and the flooring flat and soft. Kids will love the traditional features such as the see-saw, monkey bars, swings (including a supported harness swing) and rockers, but they will delight in some of the more unique structures in the playground. Imaginative play is well supported here, with the entire park displaying a clear bee theme.

The giant bee-hive climbing forts (one toddler-sized and one for older children), colourful farmers market, and cafe-themed cubbies are a highlight.

Grande Park

Suburb: Springfield Lakes

Next on our list is Grande Park in Springfield Lakes, which lives up to its name in more ways than one. Grand in scale and features, this park suits all kids – but is particularly any little biking enthusiast.

For those just starting, the bicycle safety learning track, which includes concrete, street signs and line markings, is the perfect way to introduce kids to riding and road rules. For those who have mastered cycling basics, there is also a short dirt BMX and mountain bike track at the park.

The playground includes swings, a roundabout, spinners, forts, climbing structures, slides built into a soft-mounded hill and more. Finally, if that is not enough to convince you to visit, Grande Park also boasts a performance stage, tennis courts with field lights, basketball and netball courts, cycling tracks, public toilets, a well-equipped playground and plenty of open space.

Sandstone Point Hotel Playground

Suburb: Sandstone Point

Sandstone Point Hotel is a one-stop shop for family-friendly fun, a little bit further out from Brisbane but well worth the drive. The hotel boasts multiple restaurants and eating spaces, all with spectacular views down to the jetty and fish and chip Oyster Shed. Pristine green lawns stretch down the hill, and on weekends the space comes alive with soccer games, kids playing, and even jumping on their large trampoline.

You would think that with so much else to see and do here, the fenced playground alongside the hotel would hardly get a look in. The very opposite is true. The hugely popular farm-themed playground is one of the feature drawcards to the area. There is also a mini windmill, a farm-themed climbing castle with a rope bridge and slides, a trough and taps for water play, an old fashioned bucket and rope for transporting goodies up and down the fort and even a rainwater tank climbing structure too.
