Capalaba Produce makes for a lovely outing with your Brisbane Kids – to get a taste of farmyard life and perhaps an ice cream treat. Capalaba Produce is a working shop, selling pets, plants and produce (farm and animal needs) since the 50’s, but it’s also a destination of its own.
Capalaba Produce – The Animals at Ted’s Corner
A highlight for Brisbane Kids at Capalaba Produce will be Ted’s Corner – a ‘farm’ section with an ever-changing variety of chooks, ducks, sheep, goats, pigs, alpacas and shetland ponies in clean but rustic pens with shade, shelter and fresh water. If you’re lucky you might also spy a talkative turkey.
Younger Brisbane Kids will delight in wandering through this area and encountering farmyard friends. For a gold coin donation, grab a bag of food and feed some of the four-legged friends. Your donation goes to the Queensland Koala Society Inc. There is also a large aviary filled with various birds including, budgerigars, doves and pigeons in this area.
Food Options at Capalaba Produce
You can find some of your favourite New Zealand products at Kiwi Fine Foods. Here you can grab a coffee, muffin, milkshake or ice cream and relax on the veranda while soaking up the country vibe.

The produce store sells a huge range of pet and farm animal supplies, as well as little chicks, ducklings, a variety of other birds and guinea pigs. There is a garden centre selling a range of indoor and outdoor plants selected to suit our Brisbane climate and conditions.
The resident bird ‘Buddy’ will entertain Brisbane Kids with his antics. The friendly corella loves a chat, enjoys dancing and will sing if you get him started. Apparently, Buddy is head of security at Capalaba Produce and will let everyone know if a truck is coming or a dog is barking.
There is a range of statues and sculptures as well as old farm equipment at Capalaba Produce that makes it part art gallery and part museum which will delight and inspire visitors.
On a Saturday morning, you’ll find Doggywerks PUPPY School at Capalaba Produce running various levels of classes for your dog.

What We Thought of Capalaba Produce
The kids absolutely love visiting Capalaba Produce. First they like to fill their bellies with a milkshake and treat from the cafe and then they love to explore Ted’s Corner chatting to the animals, giving them a pat and of course hand feeding them.

There is on-site parking, mostly hard surfaces underfoot and accessible toilets.
