You can pat a camel to your heart’s desire and even stop by the homestead café to try their famous camel-cino – a coffee made on camel’s milk! In our experience, this was a fantastic day out for the entire family!
Summer Land Camels Farm
Summer Land Camels is a working dairy operation located in the picturesque scenic rim about 45 minutes from Brisbane. Upon entry to the farm you’ll be greeted by vast, stunning views of green pastures filled with camels and a magnificent mountainscape that’ll make you feel a world away.
Entry to the farm is free, with visitors more than welcome to pat and photograph these quirky creatures for no charge. The camels are surprisingly photogenic and a selfie frame makes an excellent backdrop for that perfect camel snap.
Feeding the camels is a real highlight for the kids, and $3 a feed bag is worth the spare change. Also, make sure you stop by and say hi to the farm’s cheekiest residents – two miniature goats who provide plenty of entertainment and photo opportunities.
There’s also authentic farm machinery such as tractors and dairy equipment, dotted throughout the farm which is sure to capture the imagination of mini-farmers.
Keep in mind some young children may find the size of the camels intimidating so best to guide them through the experience. These gentle camels are twice the size of the average kid (if not more).
Hats and sunscreen are a must as most of the farm is unshaded and visitors are highly recommended to wear enclosed shoes for protection.
Homestead Café and Farm Store
Adventurous foodies will be in their element at the quaint homestead café which serves everything from camel pie to delicious gelato and Summer Land’s must try camelccino!
Of course, there are plenty of non-camel products for you to enjoy as part of your visit. A lovely little gift store is stocked with camel merchandise, including clothes, toys, earrings, kitchenware and even camel milk and honey vodka. The store also features a range of ethically sourced camel milk skincare products renowned for their anti-ageing and healing properties.
Experiences
We found a range of exciting experiences you can enjoy at Summer Land Camels, including the rare opportunity to ride on one of these majestic animals.
Riders as young as 4 can jump in the saddle for a fun and informative introduction to camel behaviour while touring the beautiful farm grounds. This experience is incredibly popular, making online bookings essential and weight limits apply.
Visitors can also pre-book a more comprehensive farm tour or up close and personal cameleer experience better suited to families with older children.
The farm also hosts other special events throughout the year including markets, sunset cocktails and Little Farmer Humpty Days which include additional activities like paid face painting and games for the little ones.
Admission Details
Summer Land Camels is open 7 days a week from 9am to 3pm every day (closed some public holidays). Entry to the farm is free and all experiences including the camel rides must be booked online prior to your visit. Any additional purchases such as the camel feed can be purchased on the day via EFTPOS or cash.
Accessibility
The homestead café is wheelchair accessible with ramps and a lift providing access to the café and toilets. All other facilities including the gift shop are located on the ground floor.
As Summer Land Camels is a working farm there is some uneven terrain and unpaved pathways which should be approached with a sensible amount of caution.
Prams, wagons and carriers are a good idea for young children as little legs may tire while touring the farmyard.
Fully trained assistance dogs are also allowed on the property.

What We Thought of Summer Land Camels
We dare you to visit Summer Land Camels and not fall in love with these big brown eyed beauties! We attended a Little Farmer Humpty Day. This included a mini farm tour plus extra activities such as face painting ($5), giant lawn games and camel-themed arts and crafts, which kept us happily entertained for about 3 hours including lunch. This special experience makes for an unforgettable day trip or is a great place to drop by while holidaying out west.
