  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

The Best Hot Chocolates in Brisbane

Last Updated: May 24, 2021
best hot chocolate in Brisbane, Piggy Back Cafe, Jindalee cafe

When the temperature drops, hot chocolate is one of our favourite ways of warming the heart and the belly. We posed the question to our Facebook community – “Where can you buy the best hot chocolate in Brisbane?” – and the list of recommendations that came back was huge!

Whether your preference is dark and rich, frothy and sweet, or even rainbow-coloured, the following are the best of the best places for hot chocolate across all of Brisbane. And if hot chocolate isn’t your thing, fear not, because all these places also have a range of other outstanding treats on offer.

Cowch Dessert Cocktail Bar at South Bank

In case you haven’t heard, chocolate desserts are Cowch’s specialty. From dessert pizzas to melted chocolate fondue, no trip to South Bank is complete without a dessert stop at Cowch. Their drinks menu includes a range of super shakes, mocktails, smoothies and adult cocktails, but it’s their deluxe hot chocolate that has stolen our hearts. Choose from milk, white, dark or caramel for your hot chocolate base, then splurge with some added whipped cream and toasted marshmallows. Gluten free and vegan options are also available, along with a dedicated kids’ menu. Be sure to also keep an eye out for Cowch’s school holiday workshops where kids can put together their own chocolate creations.

Cowch Dessert Cocktail Bar is located at 2/179 Grey Street, South Brisbane & Westfield Chermside. Find out more at cowch.com.au.

Lindt Chocolate Shop at DFO Brisbane Airport

The Lindt name is synonymous with delicious, high quality chocolate. Stepping inside one of the Lindt Cafe stores is like stepping into Willy Wonka’s chocolate room – the scent is drool-worthy! As one would expect, the café offerings at Lindt are just as scrumdidilyumpious, with a menu including delicious cakes, sundaes and desserts, as well as some of the best hot chocolates you’ve ever tasted. Their signature hot chocolate varieties include dark chocolate, milk chocolate, salted caramel or hazelnut, as well as more grown-up mocha options in the same flavour range.

Lindt Chocolate Shop DFO Brisbane Airport is located at Shop 124, DFO Brisbane, Ninth Ave, Skygate. Find out more at lindt.com.au/shops-cafes/menu.

Oliver Brown at Westfield Garden City

Located within Westfield Garden City, Oliver Brown is a decadent dessert destination not to be missed. Specialising in delicious dishes created from the finest quality imported Belgian chocolate, their hot chocolate varieties almost warrant an entire menu of their own! Options include milk, dark or white hot chocolate, ‘crunchy balls’ hot chocolate, mint hot chocolate, coconut hot chocolate, whipped cream hot chocolate, and even a mocha – all made with 100% Belgian chocolate.

Oliver Brown is located on Level 2, Garden City Westfield Shopping Centre, Upper Mt Gravatt. Find out more at oliverbrown.com.au.

Passiontree Velvet at Carindale and Indooroopilly

With two locations in Brisbane, Passiontree Velvet specialises in bespoke, handcrafted cakes for all occasions. Their cafes also serve up indulgent slices of their cakes, as well as macarons, high tea (at selected stores), coffee and light bites to eat. Their milk hot chocolate comes highly recommended, and their kids’ Teddy Bear’s Picnic High Tea is the perfect high tea option for littlies.

Passiontree Velvet is located at Level 2, Westfield Carindale Shopping Centre, Carindale, and Level 2, Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, Indooroopilly. Find out more at passiontreevelvet.com.au.

Piggy Back Cafe at Jindalee

Piggy Back Café is a family-friendly, laid back café, offering all day breakfasts, tasty baked treats and outdoor styled lunches. One look at their Facebook page and you will see why this café is so popular with locals. Their Insta-worthy menu items include açai bowls, cookies and cream French toast, croissants and more, but it’s their drinks menu that has caught the eye of locals. Piggy Back’s rainbow coffee, superfood latte, and yummy smoothies are popular, however a visit here is not complete without an Oreo Hot Chocolate (made with white chocolate, milk, whipped cream and Oreos).

Piggy Back Café is located at 86 Curragundi Road, Jindalee. Find out more at facebook.com/PiggyBackCafe.

Storia On Queen in Brisbane City

Offering a traditional Italian menu in the heart of the city, Storia On Queen serves up some of their own fresh, home-grown produce. They also make a mouth-watering Italian hot chocolate that is so thick you need to drink it with a spoon. Their passion for personal service has earnt them an incredible 4.5 star rating on Google, and a ‘family’ of loyal customers who keep going back for more.

Storia On Queen is located at 2/324 Queen Street, Brisbane City. Find out more at storiaonqueen.com.au.

Noosa Chocolate Factory in Brisbane City

The smell inside the Noosa Chocolate Factory is just divine. With chocolate made fresh locally every day, you just know you’re going to love whatever you try in here. Offering a huge selection of chocolate slabs to choose from, it’s the Noosa Chocolate Factory’s coffees and rustic hot chocolates that have become a Brisbane CBD institution. You can select from semi-dark, dark, milk, or white hot chocolates with varying cacao percentages, but it’s the Fresh Rocky Road Hot Chocolate that always catches our eye.

The Dark Chocolatier Noosa Chocolate Factory is located at 156 Adelaide Street, Brisbane City. Find out more at .noosachocolatefactory.com.au.
