Kids love to craft and at Easter it is no different. There are plenty of fun, simple and mess-free Easter craft activities you can do with your kids and making an Easter Bunny Napkin has to be one of the best. All you need is a napkin, string, scissors and some origami skills and away you go! Not only that, get the kids to make a full set and use them on Easter Sunday as a table decoration. Add a couple of eggs in the ears and you have an adorable accessory for the Easter family table.
What you need:
- Straw string in any colour – (for the whiskers)
- Scissors
- Standard napkin (larger size works better
Step 1:
Unfold the napkin once so that you are left with a rectangle (with the opening at the bottom and fold at the top).
Step 2:
Fold the napkin up horizontally (bringing bottom to top) so that it is a thinner rectangle.
Step 3:
Take the top right corner and fold the right half of the napkin down along the centre line.
Step 4:
Repeat the previous step but on the left side of the napkin.
Step 5:
Take the bottom right corner and fold diagonally so that it comes to the centre of the napkin and then repeat on the left side.
Step 6:
Bring the right corner into the centre of the napkin and then repeat on the left. You should be left with a kite-shaped napkin.
Step 7:
Turn the napkin over. Fold the top point down so that it folds neatly across the left and right side points.
Step 8:
Turn the napkin over and flip horizontally. Curl the two bottom points in towards each other so that they wrap. Tuck one of the corners into the back fold of the other so that they stay in that position.
Step 9:
Turn the napkin over again and tie your straw string around it to make a bow. Keep the loops of the bow long.
Step 10:
Cut the bow and string on each side evenly. Now your napkin bunny has his whiskers!!
Step 11:
And your final step! Fluff out those bunny ears and you are all done. Try adding some small Easter eggs inside the ears for a bit of fun too.
And there you have it. Some simple origami Easter fun to enjoy with the kids these April holidays.
