  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

The Magic Faraway Tree | Brisbane January 2020

Last Updated: December 15, 2022

The Brisbane City Youth Ballet presents an amazing adaptation of Enid Blyton’s The Magic Faraway Tree during the Summer school holidays in January 2020.

The Magic Faraway Tree

The all time classic Enid Blyton story that has captured generation after generation of fans, The Magic Faraway Tree, is being brought to life on stage by the talented dancers at the Brisbane City Youth Ballet during the Christmas school holiday period.

More than 90 dancers will take to the stage in this breath taking production that features Silky, Moonface, Saucepan Man and all their friends as they go on their journey together to the Land of Toys, The Land of Goodies and The Land of Presents. Of course from the original Enid Blyton story these lands provide lots of adventures for the characters including the Land of Goodies where everything including cake and treacle is free and The Land of Presents where children go around picking up presents for each other and their parents. Everyone who has read the book will remember the Land of Toys where Saucepan Man accidentally thinks he is in the Land of Goodies, so he gets imprisoned for stealing candy leaving Jo and the others to rescue him from jail. Whether the ballet version of The Magic Faraway Tree stays true to the story and includes everyone’s favourite parts, well only time will tell!

A highlight of the stunning production is the amazing sets and costumes which have been designed by world renowned designer, Max Hurley. The tree itself is a presence on stage and the impressive structure even has an inbuilt slippery slide in it!

An added bonus of going to see the Brisbane City Youth Ballet perform The Magic Faraway Tree is that the ballerinas will come into the foyer to meet their fans after the show and you might even have the opportunity to meet, and get a photo with, your favourite character from the show.

Beautiful dancing, gorgeous sets and stunning costumes will enthrall the audience and take them on a beautiful journey and makes this show a must see performance not just for lovers of ballet, but for fans of The Magic Faraway Tree during the school holidays.
