South Bank Parklands, in Brisbane’s CBD is effectively one giant playground for kids of all sizes and abilities.
Streets Beach, Aquativity Water Park and Picnic Island Playground are just some of the popular attractions within South Bank Parklands.
And now there is a brand new playground – Riverside Green Playground – for locals and tourists to enjoy.
Riverside Green Playground, South Bank
This playground is one of South Bank’s most popular areas for families after a refurbishment in October 2015.
The new playground is amazing and includes:
- An all inclusive area pirate boat themed toddler zone
- 3 giant slides including 2 enclosed and a 2 metre wide multi person slide
- A skywalk which is lit up at night
- A belt bridge
- A climbing wall
- A giant hamster wheel- big enough to fit 4 kids inside at once!
- A supernova spinning wheel
- 2 swings including one toddler swing
Situated next to the Boat Pool, the Riverside Green playground is a kids (an adults) dream play area. The Neverland inspired playground boasts state of the art equipment which lends itself to Brisbane Kids of all ages. A lovely addition and first of its kind in Brisbane are the lights in the sky-walk which means not only does the playground look magical at night but play can continue on into the evening while dinner is being cooked in the adjoining BBQ area.
Picnic Island Playground, South Bank
This lesser known playground, beautifully shaded by an old fig tree, has lots to offer Brisbane Kids of all ages, including:
- Suspended play plates made of reflective metal
- A basket swing
- A modern slide
- A cubby house and sand pit
- A play wall with in built finger puzzles
- A pathway with an in-built story
- Soft fall mounds and chip bark base
Nearby to this playground are open green spaces and barbeques to allow you to stay a little longer and enjoy a meal or picnic with family and friends.
Aquativity, South Bank
This interactive water-play park features a range of educational play elements that remind you of the river, creeks, fish and mammals that live in the area.
Tipping buckets, shooting fountains, shallow pools and outdoor showers means hours of water fun for the kids.
Aquativity is located next to Streets Beach, meaning it also has easy access to barbeques, picnic areas, disabled access toilets and showers.
This well designed area is also suitable for those in wheelchairs, so that no one misses out on the fun, and for safety, is patrolled by lifeguards.
