  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Fundamental Minecraft Tips for Parents

Last Updated: March 18, 2023
minecraft for parents

“Are your kids obsessed with Minecraft? Need to learn how to install mods? Looking for party ideas? Don’t have a clue what a spider jockey is?” Discover 6 Minecraft tips for parents wanting to navigate the Minecraft world. We aren’t talking about gameplay as such, but all the things that sit around it.

6 Minecraft Tips for Parents

Find family-friendly Minecraft videos

YouTube videos are a wonderful source of Minecraft information and inspiration for children. Still, because the game is also played by teenagers and adults, some videos contain inappropriate language and comments.

The following names have been mentioned by Bec as “safe” youtubers (note that some at the beginning of their youtube careers can have the odd swear word but then, once niched into kids, become very clean). Paul Soares Junior, Mr Stampy Cat, Minecraft Seth Bling, IHascupquake, ThinkNoodles are names that she mentioned.

Make a backup copy of worlds before installing mods

Here are 50 of the best Minecraft mods every made. And we can’t stress enough about making a backup copy. If you are going to install mods, we also recommend having a good virus checker to monitor the downloads.

Be wary of fake download files

There are two main places where you’ll come across these when you’re looking for Minecraft mods – ad spaces on websites or ad redirection services like AdFly. Don’t click on ‘Download’ without reading the small print. It can also be good to have a cheap gaming laptop so the risk is not transferred to anything business or personal on your usual computer. And when you are downloading just be aware, you might be looking at a screen where there is a big download button but that isn’t actually the mod file. The mod file might be a less obvious check box further down the page. Just go slow.

Get involved by letting your kids teach you to play

“Experiencing the game first-hand really is the best way to understand what they’re talking about and see the educational potential for yourself. Plus it’s a lot of fun!” Bec advises.
