Everyone loves a bargain and what better place to peruse a variety of second-hand goods than at the well-laid out Lifeline Shop in North Lakes. Located on the northside of Brisbane, this Lifeline Shop is spacious, well organised, has the most awesome book section and features a super cool Vintage Revival section.
What You Will Find at Lifeline North Lakes
Lifeline North Lakes is not your usual second-hand opportunity shop. It is neat, organised, stocked full of quality goods, and boasts the best book section and designated Vintage Revival section.
Housed within a massive warehouse, you will find all the usual goods on offer including shoes, clothing, bric-a-brac, toys, furniture, sporting goods etc. The sections are well signed, neat and orderly, making browsing a breeze.
Books, Books and More Books
My absolute favourite part of the shop has to be the massive book section. I could spend hours browsing the books, or just sit in one of the comfy chairs and take my time selecting my next read.
When you first arrive you will be amazed at the almost floor to ceiling display of books. Stocking an array of children’s books, classics, novels, cook books, and more, you are bound to uncover something special each time you visit.
All books are $3 unless marked otherwise, making it an affordable outing, especially if you devour a book every few days like me.
Once again, the sections are well laid out, signed appropriately and neat and tidy.
Vintage Revival
Situated near the front of the store, is a separate section called Vintage Revival. This section is where the retro, vintage pieces are segregated, waiting for their new owner to find them and fall in love with them all over again.
You will find kitchenware, clothing, shoes, knick knacks, jewellery, and plenty of glassware.
Even if you don’t purchase anything, I am sure you will enjoy looking at the items that featured in your childhood. You may just need to explain to the kids of today what some of things are and perhaps share with them some stories of yesteryear.
Drive-Thru Donations
When you are visiting the Lifeline Shop in North Lakes don’t forget to bring your donations with you too.
Not only is it a great excuse to have a clean out at home and reduce your contribution to landfill, the funds from the sale of your donated goods goes directly to a variety of Lifeline programs including the 24-hour Crisis Support Line.
It has never been easier to drop off donated goods. Simply drive around the back of the store (during opening hours), pull up beside the labelled crates, and gently place your goods in them.
Please remember that all donated goods should be in working order and of decent quality. As a general rule of thumb – if you wouldn’t buy it yourself, don’t donate it.
While You Are in the Area
While you are in the area, you may as well make the most of your time and have a bite to eat or visit a playground or two.
There is a tasty sandwich bar right beside the Lifeline Shop called DannyBoys, serving scrumptious rolls, sandwiches and flat grills.
When it is time for a play, just a few minutes’ drive away is Aurora Boulevard Park where families can enjoy a fun playground, skate park, outdoor exercise equipment, sporting fields, courts and picnic facilities.
North Lakes Town Park at Lake Eden is also a nice spot for a play, relax and wander and is less than 5km down the road.
What We Thought of Lifeline North Lakes
I must confess, I am not usually a lover of op-shops. There is just something about the smell, clutter and disorganisation that does not sit well with me. But that all changed when I visited Lifeline North Lakes. The shop is well laid out, neat and tidy making it easy to get around and find what you are looking for.
But the main reason I loved this shop was because of the fabulous book and Vintage Revival sections.
Strolling around the Vintage Revival section was like walking down memory lane. Seeing the kitchenware my nan and mum used to have brought memories flooding back. I mean who doesn’t love retro, bright orange Tuppaware!
The huge book section is amazing and stocks a variety of modern and classic books, with a large range of fiction and non-fiction second-hand books.
