  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Stuartholme School Review

Last updated: June 2, 2016

Stuartholme School is an independent Catholic secondary school for girls in Years 7 to 12. It is both a day school and a boarding school. Located in Toowong, Stuartholme School is just six kilometres from Brisbane CBD, yet its setting on 21 hectares of natural beauty in the foothills of Mount Coot-tha make it an ‘educational sanctuary’ from busy city life.

Established in 1920 by the Society of the Sacred Heart, the School currently caters for approximately 700 students, including around 150 boarders. The School provides an educational experience with opportunities for girls to achieve their potential in all areas of their school-life and beyond. The School’s ethos is to provide a balanced and well-rounded educational programme in order to encourage each girl to discover, develop and value her talents, and to be the best she can be.

Stuartholme School Philosophy and Values

Stuartholme School follows the philosophies of Sacred Heart Education, which enables students to understand, appreciate and celebrate Catholic traditions within a supportive school environment. The spiritual life of the School and the Student Wellbeing Programme work together to ensure the holistic development of each student.

“The Goals of Sacred Heart Education articulate the forward-thinking and dynamic educational philosophy of Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat. These frame and infuse the holistic educational experience for each of our girls. We educate to:

  • A Personal and Active Faith in God
  • A Deep Respect for Intellectual Values
  • Building Community as a Christian Value
  • A Social Awareness that Impels to Action
  • Personal Growth in an Atmosphere of Wise Freedom”

Facilities at Stuartholme School

Nestled on the foothills of Mount Coot-tha, Stuartholmes’ campus is spread over 21 hectares with two main buildings, the original Main Building that houses classrooms, main reception along with the boarding house and the Joigny Performing Arts Centre. On-site sporting facilities include five tennis courts (also used for netball and basketball), a grassed oval and recently built Aquatic Precinct. There are also plans for a new gymnasium and multi-purpose facility, and the Brisbane River is used for rowing.

Music facilities include three large classrooms, six rehearsal rooms and a recording studio. Art facilities include art classrooms, a sculpture courtyard and a kiln. For performing arts, there is a 500-seat, air-conditioned theatre, tree-top level Green Room and spacious foyer. The library has an extensive collection of resources, space for study and research, as well as a chill-out area with bushland views. There are also two adjoining multimedia classrooms. Technology includes the use of tablet PCs to facilitate teaching and learning, high speed wireless broadband access across the campus, plus networked data projectors in every teaching space.

Special Needs

Stuartholme School provides wheelchair access through a system of lifts to ensure inclusive opportunities for all members of the community.

Why parents would choose Stuartholme School

Stuartholme School is Brisbane’s only Catholic girls’ boarding school, and has been educating girls in Brisbane for over 90 years. Stuartholme has a reputation as a devoted, supportive learning environment, fostering a sense of community and belonging for each girl. The School values of faith, learning, community, social justice and personal growth aim to empower students to become confident, compassionate and committed young women and future leaders.

As part of the international network of Sacred Heart Schools, Stuartholme School is built on a dynamic educational philosophy that centres around a holistic educational experience for the students, with the goal of ensuring each student is well-balanced in all aspects of school life. As such, the School offers many opportunities for personal development and learning outside the classroom, including house activities and events, annual camps and retreats, and membership to clubs and societies. The School believes that active participation in such activities enables students to discover, develop and value their talents and grow in self-confidence.

In addition, with a strong boarding community at the School, Stuartholme offers girls a home away from home and gives its students a sense of belonging in a rich and culturally diverse environment.

Stuartholme School is located at 365 Birdwood Terrace, Toowong. For further information on the school or enrolments, visit stuartholme.com, or call Lyn Robinson on 07 3369 5466 or email enrolments@stuartholme.com.
