Queensland Academies Science, Mathematics and Technology Campus (QASMT) is one of three Queensland Academies co-educational selective entry independent state schools for Years 10 to 12. Established to bridge high school and tertiary study, QASMT allows students with an interest in fields related to Science, Mathematics and Technology to develop their skills through an innovative educational program. Students at QASMT study the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), a highly respected internationally recognised pre-university qualification that prepares students not only for university but life beyond the classroom. Non core subjects at QASMT include Economics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics and Mathematical studies.

Facilities at Queensland Academies Science, Mathematics and Technology Campus
QASMT is located in Toowong and the campus features state-of-the-art facilities include university-standard science laboratories, sporting facilities, lecture theatre, music room, observatory, auditorium and modern library. The campus is wireless and operates the ICT platform which enables students 24/7 access to lesson content and specialised interactive tools giving them the ability to control their learning.
Queensland Academies Science, Mathematics and Technology Campus Co-Curricular Activities and Other Programs
The aim of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is “to enable students to become globally engaged and develop their thinking, communication, self-management, teamwork and research skills.” (Source: Queensland Academies). The accelerated academic subjects and the format in which IBDP curriculum is delivered has been developed to better prepares students for university study.
Part of the IBDP philosophy is the holistic education of individuals by fostering compassionate and active global citizens. To support this philosophy, Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) is mandatory part of the IB Diploma. By participating in CAS activities, students have opportunities to work cooperatively with others and gain self-awareness. Programs available include art, theatre, dance, music, debating and mooting as well as community focused activities and various individual and team sports. Through the CAS program, students gain a Certificate II in Active Volunteering giving them access to Gap year Volunteering projects.
To assists student with the academically challenging curriculum, QASMT has implemented the INSTEP Coach Programme. Each student is assigned an INSTEP coach to ensure they achieve their potential by developing a range of strategies to support their learning.
Through QASMT’s partnership with the University of Queensland, students are able to take part in the Engagement Program and Enhanced Studies Program. Open to Year 9 students, the Engagement Program delivers on campus activates such talks by UQ academics and physics experiments. At the end of the year students can attend the Engagement Camp where they will experience university life first hand. The Enhanced Studies Program (ESP) allows Year 12 students to extend their IB Diploma by completing an additional university subject via UQ’s Enhanced Studies Program. By successfully completing the program students are eligible to receive one bonus point towards their university entry rank through UQ’s Bonus Rank Scheme.
Enrolment at Queensland Academies Science, Mathematics and Technology Campus
QASMT is a selective entry school and the admissions process ensures students are prepared for the rewarding challenges that lie ahead. Students applying to QASMT are required to submit an application form, sit an entrance exam, and take part in an interview. An information pack detailing the admissions process is available and applications can be submitted online via the Queensland Academies website.
QASMT offers a number of scholarships for students entering Year 10. Scholarships are valid for three years and cover 100% of the annual International Baccalaureate fee as well as the student resource scheme, providing the student upholds the terms of the scholarship.
