Hubbard’s School is an independent co-educational institution located in Miltons’ Business Precinct that offers a more intensive, but less formal way for students to complete Years 11 and 12. Hubbard’s School prides itself on offering a quality alternative to mainstream schooling that aims to prepare young people for success at tertiary level with a strong academic focus, casual dress code, balanced lifestyle and personal freedom.
Established in 1952 by two gifted academics, Godfrey Hubbard and Dr. Robert Squire, Hubbard’s School initially focused on preparing and providing educational support for students to complete Senior External Examinations. In 2001 the School was granted Non-State School status and the Queensland Studies Authority assessed the Senior External curriculum. From 2007 the School has also operated a Tutoring Program and a variety of other courses.
Hubbard’s Philosophy and Values
“Hubbard’s School aims to provide each student with a successful means of continuing their non-compulsory education. The School seeks to work in partnership with all students, and where applicable, their parents, to enable them to grow in confidence and self worth, and so achieve their academic potential. The School aims to provide a supportive and caring educational environment in which every student is welcome, and is encouraged as an independent and capable learner.
The School supports the rights of children and young people and is committed to providing a safe and supportive service environment directed at ensuring their safety and wellbeing. Hubbard’s School aims to promote the Educational Goals for Young Australians as outlined in the Melbourne Declaration of December 2008.”
Facilities at Hubbard’s School
Located in a modern building in Milton, Hubbard’s School has several well-equipped classrooms as well as a comfortable lunchroom and verandah for student use. Laboratory facilities are hired for sciences classes when appropriate, thus providing laboratory experience for minimum cost.
The School has a small but extensive Career Resource Centre with considerable take-away material available to all students.
Career guidance plays a pivotal role in harnessing and directing the talent and energies of students. Therefore the School offers both group and one-to-one consultations with an experienced Career Counsellor. Information is regularly provided to both parents and students about career options.
Special Needs
The Hubbard’s School building is equipped with a medi-tek stairlift at the front stairs with all classrooms located on a single level at the top of the stairs.

Why Choose Hubbard’s School
Hubbard’s School offers Years 11 and 12 courses with each course or subject being completed in one calendar year instead of two. This accelerated and customised program appeals to many students as it caters to those who may already have commitments to sport, part-time work or other circumstances where a tradition school setting is not suitable. The school attracts young people who want to upgrade their Year 12 results, complete a prerequisite or simply complete their Year 11 and 12 studies in a different school environment. Hubbard’s School offers ideal preparation for university, as the program of lessons is quite demanding and students need to be conscientious, take responsibility for punctual attendance, homework completion and continued commitment. With more than 60 years of experience Hubbard’s School is well-placed to be a leader in preparing students for success.
