The Blackwood Street Child Centre curriculum
The curriculum ensures children of all ages are involved in an educational program that is stimulating, engaging and enhances children’s learning and development through following their interests. The curriculum recognises the significance of early childhood programs for children, and the diversity, experiences and relationships that shape children’s lives. The curriculum invites educators to view children as capable learners who bring knowledge and experiences into the centre by building on prior learning and providing opportunities to learn through play. Also, it is recognised that the curriculum highlights the important role that educators actively engage as they work with children and families in making curriculum decisions using the early learning areas by interacting, planning, monitoring, assessing and reflecting.
Blackwood Street Child Centre welcomes parent and carer involvement and feedback through regular discussion with your children’s educators, and through bi-monthly social BBQs with the staff and board at the centre. As a not for profit organisation, the board of the Centre is made up of parents and carers with children attending the centre, who have a vested interest in ensuring the best possible learning environment for all children.
