  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Wizardry High Tea at Stamford Plaza Brisbane – Review

Last Updated: April 16, 2024

Get ready to be transported to a magical world at the Stamford Plaza Brisbane’s Wizardry High Tea! While this experience is clearly aimed at Harry Potter fans, the food is decadent and delicious and the atmosphere is enthralling even for Muggles (non-wizarding folk, for the uninitiated).

The Wizardry High Tea is a family-friendly high tea session, with plenty included to excite young witches and wizards. It’s also sophisticated enough for their older companions, with all the expected high tea favourites including salmon sandwiches (with the crusts cut off, of course), scones with jam and cream, and a wide selection of petit fours, as well as other delicious surprises like a popcorn cart, meat pies, and jelly cups. A highlight of the event is a sweets section that would be right at home in Honeydukes.

Our Wizardry High Tea Experience

When we entered the Stamford Plaza Brisbane, we were welcomed warmly. I think our costumes gave away the purpose of our visit – I’m not too sure how many of their regular hotel guests wear cloaks and carry wands around!

From the lobby, we were directed to the grand staircase to head up to the ballroom. We stopped for a quick photo on the stairs (which the kids loved), and headed up towards a welcome desk and a small foyer with wizard theming (so we know we were in the right place!).

When the double doors opened, purple smoke billowed towards us and we couldn’t help but pause in wonder to take in the incredible displays and tables of food lining the walls before us. Once we stepped inside, we were greeted with offers of champagne flutes for the grown ups and special raspberry and lime lemonade for the children.

After taking a quick look at the incredible displays of food and decorations in this room, we headed into the adjoining ballroom to find our table.

Each table was decorated with either a cauldron or a mirrored lightning bolt, and the dining room was beautifully themed with glowing lights, an animated castle display with flying bats, curtained walls with vines, and broomsticks strung across the room overhead. We noticed parts of the score of Harry Potter playing at times, which was perfectly fitting and added to the magical atmosphere.

With so much on offer, we could stroll into the adjoining room for food as often as we liked, and only needed to take the food we wanted to try. We thought this was an excellent idea, after seeing many things left untouched on the tiers at other high teas we’d been to in the past. Each time we went into the food room, we noticed new elements to the displays and new delicious morsels to try – there was so much to take in! There’s also a generous selection of teas and coffee available.

The Stamford Plaza Brisbane staff were warm, friendly and helpful. We were all offered fresh drinks regularly (champagne, water, and the lemonade mocktail for the children), and the staff were thrilled to show us little details in the displays throughout our visit. They went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we wanted.

Wizardry High Tea Highlights

With lots of kid-friendly food options to choose from, our son loved the meringue desserts and chicken and avocado baguette sandwiches, and our daughter’s favourite treats were the popcorn and jelly cups. We all found the Wizardry High Tea to be a truly magical experience and a special holiday outing for the whole family. I would recommend a light breakfast before attending, as there is definitely plenty to eat here, especially for people with a sweet tooth!

After our high tea experience, we took a walk through the Brisbane Botanic Gardens next door and saw several other families from the high tea had the same idea. The Stamford Plaza Brisbane is ideally located for a lovely stroll through the gardens or through the city to readjust to Muggle life after being transported to this wizarding world. Now we just need to find a time turner so we can experience it all over again!
