My Musical Child Boppin' Babies

Learning a musical instrument or how to sing has so many benefits for children

From increased academic achievement, improved comprehension and maths skills to better hand-eye coordination, and a great memory booster, learning to play music or to sing has a host of benefits for growing brains. It can help to improve your child’s reading ability and how their brain processes speech.

And the benefits don’t stop after your child finishes playing or singing; singing, performing or to playing a musical instrument trains your child how to concentrate and stay on-task not only during their lesson but in in the classroom and in other activities.

My Musical Child Boppin' Babies

Playing music, singing and performing makes you feel happy!

Imagine your child’s pride and sense of achievement after mastering a song, a difficult chord, or instrument or after overcoming nerves to perform for the first time in public?

There are few pleasures that compare to sitting down with your instrument or raising your voice in song and letting your feelings flow through a musical piece.

Kids aren’t the only ones who can reap the benefits of learning an instrument. Adults will also gain tremendously from playing a musical instrument by reducing stress, increase productivity, develop creativity, and build confidence.

Singing and Drama Classes

BeXD Create groupof children rehearsing.

In these classes, students will explore the fundamentals of singing and drama through a variety of engaging activities. They will learn about pitch, tone, volume, rhythm and breathing. Some kids have trouble being loud, some kids love being loud! Everyone is different. In these classes, kids are given permission to make silly, loud, quiet, high and low noises. As the age groups progress, kids look at singing in cannons and harmonies and will look at what makes a ‘good singer’ and how to sing healthily.

The voice is our most powerful tool for communication. Learning the fundamentals of singing can be hugely beneficial, even for those who don’t want to be singers. Along with basic technique, they will learn how to create characters and enhance their storytelling abilities through song. Students will also have the opportunity to explore their imagination through drama improvisation games and movement exercises to aid their emotional expression. The instructors are passionate about fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all students and helping each individual develop tools for lifelong learning, creativity, and self-expression. Whether your child is a beginner or has previous experience in singing and drama, BeXD Create’s classes welcome all skill levels and backgrounds.

Testimonials

BeXD Create high school musical.

Katie and her husband Will are both the most beautiful and passionate souls to learn from. A lot of people may teach music, but few genuinely want to see people shine. I would HIGHLY recommend them to absolutely anyone and everyone.” – Varshi, student

My child has started with BeXD weekly drama classes in term 2 and has absolutely loved them! It has been a great and safe space for him to express his inner actor. The teachers are fantastic. He also joined in for the school holiday musical workshop and performed in his first on stage production – High School Musical. Not only did he enjoy the week of workshop but LOVED performing for all the families and friends at the end of the week. It was also a great show for the parents to enjoy. Highly recommend BeXD Create!!!” – Renee, parent

I have had both group and private classes for singing with Will. He is one of the kindest and most patient people I’ve ever met. His positive attitude and in depth knowledge make him a a great teacher. He has a brilliant ear and techniques that create improvement you can see instantly. I have seen him teach every level, and he treats everyone with the same care and respect. In terms of songwriting I have seen a musical he co-wrote, so I have no doubt of his skills in that field also.” – Kristy, student

Frequently Asked Questions

BeXD Create duo rehearsing at microphone.

Where are private lessons held? BeXD Create have spaces in Kenmore, Pinjarra Hills, West End and Indooroopilly for private singing and guitar. They work in a recording studio in Fortitude Valley for any sessions requiring recording or production. Home visits can be organised for a small additional fee.

How often do I have to commit to private lessons? BeXD Create offer weekly, fortnightly or casual lessons. BeXD work with you to achieve your desired goals and budget.

Can I trial a group class before I pay for the whole term? Yes! Paid trial classes are offered before you commit to the whole term. These can be booked via their website www.bexdcreate.com

My child loves to sing or act at home but is very shy in front of others. What can I do to help them? Reach out, ask questions and give it a go. BEXD Create have trial classes for this purpose. It’s normal to feel nervous when we express ourselves in front of others and try new things. Encouragement and validation goes a long way. Often having a place outside the immediate comfort zone (at home/with family) where your child can play with being creative and sharing that creativity in a safe environment is the best thing to help them come out of their shell. It can be uncomfortable to start with and that’s okay. It may not be the right class or the right time for your child and that’s okay too, but BEXD Create encourages everyone to give it a go.

My child has special needs, are these classes suitable? Neurodiverse children are very welcome in these classes. BEXD Create have assistant teachers to offer extra support to any children who need it. These classes are suitable for most physical disabilities, just send an email to double check at admin@bexdcreate.com

Do I stay with my child during class? Nope! You just drop them off and the teachers take it from there. If you wish to stay with your child, the BeXD Create instructors are likely to ask you to participate, as they have found it lead to a much more positive experience for the students and if parents are sitting and watching it can be distracting or scary.

Are there any holiday workshops available? BEXD Create run holiday workshops during most school holiday periods. Follow them on Facebook or join their newsletter to stay up to date with upcoming workshops.

Testimonials

“Our son is into his 2nd term of Bradie’s lessons. His patient & professional approach is next level. We are so pleased to have found such a wonderful teacher-our son Archie has loads of fun with the challenges each week!” – Bec

“My 7 year old Angus has been drumming with Bradie for just over a year, and we can’t recommend him highly enough. There’s lots of variety in the lessons with a combination of fun and theory, and Angus loves attending each week. Angus has enjoyed learning a variety of songs to play, and it continues to amaze me how quickly he has taken to reading and writing music under Bradie’s guidance. To be honest it’s becoming harder to help Angus with music practice at home because he already knows so much more than me! Angus’ confidence has also been increasing thanks to these lessons, as he realises his own drumming ability and talent. Bradie is a fabulous teacher and a very positive influence in Angus life. We plan to drum with Bradie for years to come!” – Lucy

“Great teacher, awesome muso and all round nice guy. If you want to do drums I’ve not met anyone better than Bradie.” – Paul

HornHire Musical Wind Instrument Hire https://brisbanekids.com.au/family/hornhire-musical-wind-instrument-hire/ Wed, 03 Jan 2024 23:52:19 +0000 https://brisbanekids.com.au/?post_type=local_business&p=347530 HornHire specialises in quality, mainstream student wind instruments for hire in Queensland and NSW. They offer standard flutes, clarinets and trumpets from $20 per month and standard saxophones from $30 per month, as well as brand name and premium instruments, including Yamaha.

Don’t buy cheap wind instruments on the internet – hire from HornHire and get SOMETHING THAT WORKS, and KEEPS WORKING!

Why Hire An Instrument From HornHire?

Hornhire stall at community markets with family.

Tim at HornHire is passionate that each student should have the best chance of succeeding by learning on a fully functioning and tested instrument. With over 30 years in the industry, he really knows his stuff.

When you hire from HornHire, you are guaranteed to get a quality student instrument that is fully tested and functioning. HornHire hires well-known, brand-name instruments, including Yamaha, Blessing, Jupiter, and Buffet, to name a few.

To maintain quality, without the expense of known brands, they have also developed their own HornHire brand of instruments as well, which have been tried, tested and trusted now for many years.

In addition to this quality assurance,

  • All hire instruments are cleaned, sanitised and tested by a trained technician.
  • All instruments come with all of the necessary accessories – everything you need to get started.
  • You can swap and go in the event of a problem with your hired instrument (unless it’s out of stock, in which case repairs will be completed by HornHire).
  • All instruments get one FREE SERVICE per year, on request.

The Advantages Of Hiring A Wind Instrument

Hornhire brand of clarinet.

In many cases, it may be better to hire a student instrument instead of buying one, because –

It’s guaranteed to work – THIS IS A BIGGIE!

If you buy a cheap or secondhand instrument off the internet, it may not work when you get it, and could cost you hundreds of dollars for services and repairs. If you hire one from HornHire, it is guaranteed to work straight out of the case!

No Large Outlay

You can have a HornHire musical instrument in your hands straight away, without having to consider or justify a large outlay first.

No Long Commitment

The risk of financial loss is very small, because when you hire from HornHire you can return the instrument at anytime after three months. Unfortunately, kids do change their minds (often after the parents have purchased an expensive instrument).

It’s Just Easier

Buying an instrument requires a lot of research regarding brand and model, plus knowledge of pads and other components, to make an informed choice. This gets even trickier when buying second hand – it’s impossible to tell from a photo, or even in person how good all of the components of an instrument are. Many secondhand instruments cost upwards of $200+ just to get them to function correctly.

No Unexpected Expenses

With free annual servicing and maintenance included in your instrument hire, there are no unexpected or additional expenses to be had.

Less Chance Of Your Child Giving Up

Did you know that one of the main reasons kids give up learning a musical instrument is simply because they cannot get their poorly-functioning instrument to play or sound as good as it should? This becomes particularly apparent as the student progresses beyond the first few notes.

Environmentally Friendly

Hiring a wind instrument from HornHire is a great way to be more environmentally friendly. You may be surprised to learn just how much of an eco-friendly choice hiring can be!

Why Buying Cheap Wind Instruments Off The Internet Isn’t Always Good

Hornhire saxophone.

Don’t buy a musical toy, hire something that works instead!

HornHire talks to many parents each year, who are super excited that they saved so much money on a student instrument by buying cheaply off the internet. However, what appears to be cheap at first can usually end up costing a lot more in the long run.

Cheap new instruments usually don’t work well, or sometimes even at all. The reason they often get good reviews is because people who buy them can’t yet play, and by the time they get past learning the first few easy notes that do work, it is too late to complain or change their feedback that they left when they were excited to see a shiny new object.

Unfortunately, what seemed good at first, a real bargain, soon becomes apparent that it is nothing more than a musical toy. Kids usually then give up, because they can’t get beyond the first few notes.

Good Afternoon Roxanne & Tim, As this is our daughter’s last year of school we wanted to say a really big thank you for being so amazing with her Saxophone instrument hire. We will be so sorry to be finishing up with your services at the end of the year, with our daughter graduating school as you have been such a valuable part of our family and part of the journey of her success. We have had such a long standing relationship with you from 2015 to 2024 with so much support from you at our finger tips and some very last minute swaps or adjustments/advice right before a school performance, which we are so grateful for 🙏 you have rescued us on many occasions over the years. Your customer service is second to none, always putting us first and feels so warm and welcoming like family. Your company has such a wonderful reputation with our school, as being passionate and committed to providing students with the tools to be successful.
