Located at The University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus, the UQ Sport Swim School offers one of Brisbane’s most comprehensive Learn-to-Swim programs. Their venue features three heated pools: an indoor 90-centimetre-deep program pool perfect for little ones, a 25-metre pool for older kids, and a 50-metre pool for competitive squad training and adults.
All stages and ages are welcome
UQ Sport’s Learn-to-Swim program caters for everyone, from 4-month-old babies to adults starting or refining their skills. Daily small classes run between 30 – 75 minutes throughout the week in the mornings and afternoons, and on weekend mornings. In addition to group Learn-to-Swim lessons, they provide private Learn-to-Swim lessons and deliver the UQ Sport Can Swim program. The Can Swim program offers personalised, one-on-one instruction for individuals with disabilities and special needs. There are also intensive school holiday programs to accelerate water confidence.
As everyone’s level of water comfort differs, UQ Sport Swim School tailors programs to suit your child. Every child is assessed before starting their lessons to be placed at the correct level for their skill and ability. This doubles as an introduction to the program and venue so children are familiar with the pool and instructor before their first class. The experienced instructors use noodles, kickboards and toys to teach swimming skills through fun play.
Highly Qualified Swim Instructors
All their instructors are AUSTSWIM and Swim Australia-accredited, in addition to being experts in teaching and encouraging children. Some coaches also hold additional qualifications, such as swim correction (Competitive Stroke) and inclusive teaching (access and inclusion). The UQ Sport Swim School team prides itself on the positive outcomes that its highly skilled team achieves, regardless of the challenges each child may need to overcome.

What parents say about the UQ Sport Swim School
“Brilliant swim coaching with a wonderful diverse swimming program for kids of all levels. Both our children swim here and our son (with ADHD) trains 4 times a week and has the most incredible experience with his favourite coach. He just “gets” our son and is a very talented swim coach. They also offer outstanding swim training in their competitive squad and the coaches are enthusiastic and positive with the kids.” – Elle
“Honestly everyone I speak to here are 10/10 the nicest group of people I’ve met. I always leave feeling really happy with the general vibe and atmosphere the staff give off. Can’t wait to come back.” – Adam
