The Griffith University Mt Gravatt Tennis Centre runs an excellent Tennis Coaching Program for children as young as 3 years old all the way through to adults.

Their program is run by highly skilled and passionate coaches, who pride themselves on helping all players be the best they can possibly be. All programs incorporate teaching principals from both Tennis Australia and the Australian Premier Coach Training Institute.

Why Tennis for Kids?

Tennis is a great skill to learn from a young age, as it helps develop hand-eye coordination, motor skills and left-right integration, plus it is a lot of fun and great for health and wellbeing.

Program Levels

The Griffith University Tennis Coaching Program covers several different program levels for children, teens and adults, determined by age:

Hot Shots Program (3-12 years old)

  • Tiny Tennis (3-5 years)
  • Red Ball (5-7 years)
  • Orange Ball (7-10 years)
  • Green Ball (9-12 years)

Squads (12 Years+)

Adult Classes

When is the Program?

The program runs year-round in line with School Terms (Term 1 – 4), and Tennis Holiday Camps are run during the School Holidays as well.

Depending on the program level, sessions are available Monday to Saturday.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many children will be in the class? Ratios depend on the type of class, as a rule for ages 5-7 the ratio is approx. 1 coach to 5 students, 7 years and up the ratio is approx. 1 coach to 8 students.

How do I pay? You can pay for the term, upfront over the counter, or you can be put onto Griffith Sport’s direct debit system where your payments would be deducted fortnightly.

What happens if it rains? Griffith Sport make decisions on their lessons 45 minutes before they begin. You can either call the centre to double check, or follow the Facebook page and all their updates will be listed there.

What happens if I can’t make a session? If you can’t make a session if you are sick or injured, you are entitled to a makeup class. This may require a doctor’s certificate for any extended period. If you can’t make a class due to another commitment, Griffith Sport ask that you provide them with at least 6 hours’ notice and they can arrange a make up for you. Please note, no refunds will be provided for any missed lessons, only credit for another session.
