  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Lake Ainsworth Holiday Park | Family Friendly Camping THE REVIEW

Camping in Lennox Head

Lake Ainsworth Holiday Park is located two hours’ drive south from the Brisbane CBD. Simply follow the M1 to the Ross Street exit and then follow the signs to the camping ground; there was no need for a map to successfully get to Lake Ainsworth.

Our campsite was located on the southern end of the camping ground and approximately 100m from the entry point. This was an excellent location, but I don’t think that there is are any bad locations in this camping ground, as all sites are within a 1 minute walk to the tea tree Lake Ainsworth and under a 5 minute walk to Seven Mile Beach, which is a patrolled beach.

Travelling and camping with Miss 2 and Miss 4, we needed to keep busy! There was lots of scooter riding around the paths and roads within the camping grounds. We were able to stroll into town, where there are a number of excellent cafes and restaurants to choose from if you don’t feel like cooking. The local pizza shop even delivers to the camping grounds—just perfect for an afternoon of Jenga and pizza!

We spent most of our time swimming in the lake—as this is calm water the kids were able to play safely without us having to get wet. The lake has two entry points facing the camping ground, one for swimmers and one for water craft, making it safer for swimming in the designated area.

The kids loved the Moo Van (the milk man, with a horn that made a moo sound) that drove around the camping grounds each morning selling milk—like an ice-cream truck, only better! There was also a lady that was offering face painting for an hour each afternoon for the kids. These are the little things that the kids will remember from our holiday at Lake Ainsworth!

We spent our Australia Day long weekend at Lake Ainsworth Holiday Park and had an awesome weekend! Even with the rain, all of the family enjoyed our stay and we will definitely be returning to do it all over again. The grounds and facilities were clean, tidy, in good repair and safe. Thank you to all who made our time so enjoyable.

  • You also require a pin to enter and leave the camping grounds; each vehicle is issued with an individual pin.
  • The site is wheelchair friendly, with well-maintained roads and pathways.

Activities to enjoy at Lake Ainsworth Holiday Park

  • Walk to Lake Ainsworth (a tea tree lake) or Seven Mile patrolled beach. This beach is also an excellent surfing beach.
  • It is only a short drive to Byron Bay and Ballina to have a look around.
  • Remember that this is a seaside town and does not pretend to be anything else. It is relaxing and peaceful and a beautiful place to spend time with family and meet new friends.

How to make the most of your stay at Lake Ainsworth Holiday Park

  • Lake Ainsworth has a no pets policy.
  • I would suggest, if you are planning on camping at Lake Ainsworth, that you take a good supply of food. I did find that the prices in the local stores were a little expensive, but it is a seaside town, not the city. We travelled to Ballina to get supplies, as it is under 10 minutes away.
  • Make sure that you take a supply of mozzie spray, just in case. None of our family got bitten, as there was a great breeze that kept the insects away, but you can never be too safe.
  • Bring a pack of cards or board games and make this a family weekend getaway—well worth the drive!
