Tallebudgera Creek Tourist Park has to be one of our favourites. Location, Location, Location! This quiet, shady park is position right on Tallebudgera Creek. Step out the back of the park and you’re on the sandy creek edge. Follow the footpath around, and you hit the surf beach. What more could you ask for?
It took about 90 minutes to get to Tallebudgera Creek from our house on the far north-side of Brisbane, or 1 hour from the top of the Gateway Bridge. The park entry is right after the bridge and across the road from Tallebudgera Recreation Camp.
Because school holidays were then over when we visited, the park was only about a third full. We checked in around 11am, and were all set up by lunchtime.
Both toddlers were chomping at the bit to get in the pool. Tallebudgera Creek Tourist Park has to have one of the largest pools I’ve ever seen for a caravan park. Not only does it have a massive main pool, it also has a toddler pool with squirting frogs and other splashing water features and, further over in the park, a quieter pool that you could use to swim laps. The main pool has a lovely sloping bottom, so there is a large shallow area and then it works its way to the deep end, where there are two waterslides. Last time we were at the park, the toddler pool was also covered with a shade cloth, but it looks as though something has happened to the cloth recently, as it’s been taken down, but the poles and fittings are still there, so hopefully a replacement cloth is on its way.
Tallebudgera Creek Tourist Park’s bathroom facilities have recently undergone some renovations. There are new toilets and fittings throughout. One of the park staff also saw my husband trying to manage shower time with two toddlers, so gave us the access code to the family bathroom, which contains bath, shower, toilet, change table and basin.
Each evening we’d take a nice walk along the path beside the creek, then along the waterfront, past the Talle Club, which looked popular every evening for drinks and dinner, although we didn’t go in. In front of the club on the foreshore is a great shaded playground that we’d stop at, before continuing back to the caravan park for the evening.
Tallebudgera Creek Tourist Park also has a lovely playground for littlies. While it doesn’t have a shade cloth over it, like the rest of the park it benefits from the lovely, big old trees spread throughout.
The camp kitchen facilities were fairly basic, with a couple of barbeques and a very small camp kitchen space located inside the games room building. There were also lots of BBQ tables around the area for campers to use.
Tallebudgera Creek is lovely for swimming. If you exit the park and walk under the bridge, you’ll find surf lifesavers guarding the creek on the other side. It’s a great spot for little ones as there’s plenty of sand and no waves, but you will find the current picks up as the tide changes. This area also has toilets and a shaded playground.
On Friday afternoon, the woodfire pizza people set up next to the main pool area. They seemed very popular with the campers. Pizzas were $14 with five options available, such as Hawaiian, Ultimate Meat and Our Works. They advised me that they are there every Friday during school holidays and every second Friday during school terms.
The other thing we noticed about Tallebudgera Creek Tourist Park was the birds. Lots and lots of birds. Don’t be surprised if you’re woken by the sound of lots of laughing kookaburras, along with various other birds walking and flying around the park.

How to make the most of your stay at Tallebudgera Creek Tourist Park
- Don’t forget to pack your swimwear! Between the three pools, the creek and the surf beach, you’ll find a use for them.
- Fishing, boating, water-skiing, windsurfing and canoeing are also all popular in the creek.
- Remember to take the kids’ bikes or scooters, as both are allowed to be used inside the park during daylight hours.
