This idyllic bush retreat feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere, but is actually located less than 30 minutes from Warwick (or two and a half hours from Brisbane).
As serene as it is, it’s important to note that this campground is popular with dirt bike, quad bike and motocross bike enthusiasts. The park managers pride themselves on offering a family-friendly environment, but the sport does mean it can be noisy during the day.
If you prefer peace and quiet, call ahead to check whether any riders will be there during your preferred dates. On the other hand, if you’re looking for somewhere where the kids are welcome to ride their motorbikes safely, you may have found the perfect holiday location!
Camping at Glendon Camp Ground at Warwick
The camping area is nestled along the peaceful Thanes Creek, running through the enormous 1600 acre property. This makes it a great place for birdwatching and wildlife spotting. You are guaranteed to at least see roos grazing peacefully around the campsite. The weather can get cool in the Warwick area, but Glendon Camping allows fires so you can keep cosy and toast marshmallows to your heart’s content. The reception area sells firewood, as well as a variety of cold drinks and treats. Even better are their fresh, free-range eggs available daily.
Facilities at Glendon Camp Ground
There are both powered and unpowered camping sites, as well as basic cabins (BYO linen). There is an amenities block that services both the cabins and the campers. Glendon also welcomes day visitors for a small fee. Dogs are allowed if kept on a lead, so even Fido can be included in the getaway! There is a small playground for kids, pictured above, and ample room for bicycles, scooters, remote-controlled cars, ball games etc. Please note, you must bring your own drinking water, as this property relies on rain water tanks.
Activities to enjoy at Glendon Camp Ground
You may be “out bush” but there is plenty to do at this campground, including:

How to make the most of your stay at Glendon Camp Ground
Make sure you chat to the managers when you arrive to plan your activities for your stay. Parts of the property were once part of a gold mine, and although no longer operating, there are still traces of gold to be found. One guest reportedly found 55 ounces of gold! You can also use this campsite as a base to explore everything else the Warwick and Southern Downs area has to offer. Check out our family-friendly itinerary here.
