  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

NRMA Treasure Island Resort – Review

This weekend’s adventure took us in search of the treasures hiding at NRMA Treasure Island Holiday Park.

I had a call from the park a couple of days before our arrival, confirming we were still coming and checking what time we’d be checking in. Check-in time is from 2pm.

It took one hour and twenty minutes’ drive from our home on the far north-side of Brisbane to reach Treasure Island Holiday Park, or 50 minutes from the top of the Gateway Bridge. The park is really easy to find; it’s pretty much right next door to Harbour Town Shopping Centre.

On arrival at the park, we were allocated our site and given keys to the side gate, which provides short-cut access to Harbour Town, and the card to open the front boom gates. We were also given the kids’ club schedule for the weekend and advised what outdoor movie was playing that night.

The Resort Kids’ Club

The Kids’ Club has multiple sessions a day you can pay for them to be a part of. Children aged four years and over can participate in Kids’ Club; however, it is recommended that you book for the time slots you want. Unfortunately, because of the minimum age limit being set at 4, we were not able to leave our kids there.  There is a Kids’ Club room for children aged under four years however parental supervision is required for the under four age group. I did check out that week’s Kids’ Club program though and it did appe ar to have a good selection of crafty type activities for the kids. This particular week’s program included activities such as chocolate making, stain glass window making, and beaded bracelet making.

There are three existing pools in the park plus a toddler pool, and four spas, as well a water splash zone so there are plenty of water play facilities currently available for visitors.

On Friday evening we made our way into Surfers Paradise, approximately 9 km away, to the Surfers Paradise Night Markets which are held along the Esplanade every Wednesday and Friday night.

On Saturday we ventured over to Harbour Town for a spot of shopping. The centre is very convenient to the park and includes movie cinemas and a range of restaurant options for those who wish to eat out.

On our return to the park, we hit the main pool, where our toddler’s test drove the water slide where the four year old handled it pretty well. The pool does feature a range of different depths, as well as a bridge to hide under and a shaded toddler pool for the littlies. We finished off with a nice warm spa, also situated in a well-shaded area.

After our swim, we headed over to the shaded jumping pillow and, while the kids put it to good use, I tested out the Galleon’s Bar’s cocktail selection; choosing the Treasured Dream.

On Saturday evening they also had some local entertainment playing in the restaurant. Galleon’s Bistro has different special offers most nights of the week, as well as a set a la carte menu, including a children’s menu. It also offers a range of takeaway options, for those who just want to grab some hot chips to take back to their site, which is what we did. The large size serving is certainly that, with a lot more chips than two adults and two toddlers could eat. The restaurant offers both indoor and alfresco dining options.

Sunday was check out day for us. Check out time is 10 am, so we only had enough time to revisit the jumping pillow and to try out the toddler playground, which is just the right size for little ones. Unfortunately, this playground isn’t shaded, but the bigger playground in the jumping pillow area is, which is a huge bonus. Normally, in the middle of the day, the pillows are too hot to use, but the shade meant that kids were using it throughout the whole day.
