  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Bundaberg Farm Stay at Splitter’s Farm

Last Updated: February 22, 2022
Damper Making Splitters Farm

Brisbane Kids has you covered with our guide to the perfect weekend away with kids at a popular Bundaberg Farm Stay at Splitter’s Farm. This incredible property features 400 rescue animals spread out over 160 acres. It might be a four drive from Brisbane but it’s worth every minute to immerse your family in this rustic Aussie experience.

Damper Making

After setting up your camp site, caravan or checking into your incredible glamping accommodation head over to the camp kitchen for guided damper making. The kids will love seeing how this Aussie classic is made. Participants are given giant sticks to cook ‘damper twisties’ over a massive wood burning fire. It’s also a great way to meet the other families who are staying on site.

Sparkling Amenity Block

Before dinner, campers can wash up at the brand-new amenity block’s showers and toilets. It even comes complete with a private parent’s room (only accessible with a code) giving families with young children privacy to bathe and change the kids.

Magical Two Storey Treehouse

Awake to the fresh country air and watch the kid’s faces light up as chickens, peacocks and geese stroll by. After breakfast don’t be surprised if the first thing they ask is, ‘can I go play mum?’ They’ll probably head straight to the two storey treehouse, Fort Blair, that is perfect space for open end imaginative play.

Guided Farm Tour and Gourmet Picnic

Make sure the kid’s save their energy because the best is yet to come. On Saturday and Sunday morning there’s guided tours where you can meet the farm animals. This Bundaberg farm stay won’t disappoint your kids with a large variety of farm animals making up their menagerie.

If you’re lucky you’ll get owner Carly Clark as your guide. Her passion for animal welfare is contagious. At Splitter’s Farm they’ve rescued more than 400 animals from drought and other dire circumstances. Brisbane Kids will love popping into the pig pen for muddy cuddles, letting baby goats climb on their backs and feeding sweet potatoes to horses, cows, sheep, alpaca and more!

The perfect way to end your guided tour is with a beautifully catered gourmet picnic. The team provide everything from the picnic rug to pillows – all you have to do is pre-select your order.

Pizza and Movie Under the Stars

Pop into the camp kitchen to grab your woodfired pizza (made on site) and then settle down for a magical open-air movie under the stars. The kids won’t know what to look at first – the latest kid’s flick or all the twinkling stars in the sky.

Go Karts and Guinea Pigs

Wake up early Sunday morning at Splitter’s Farm so you have time to rent one of the pedal go karts. The kids will love pedaling around saying good morning to the animals and feeding them sweet potatoes.

Make sure the kids pop by the guinea pig pens which are open every day between 10-11am for a cuddle. The farm’s coffee cart is conveniently located next to the guinea pig area.

Kayak with the Kids

If there’s time before you hit the road back to Brisbane, explore Splitters Creek, a freshwater nature reserve that flows into the Burnett River. You can hire single or double kayaks and for the adventurous there’s even stand up paddleboards.
