  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

play train.

If your Brisbane Kid is also an avid locomotive-lover then the below train-themed playgrounds are well worth spending some time exploring.  Although filled with all the usual playground fun, their track-themed play elements make them a must-visit for any small (or big) train enthusiasts!

Train themed playgrounds in Brisbane

Milton Train Park, Milton

One of the most well-known train-themed playgrounds in Brisbane can be found in Milton. Not only does the Milton Train Park have a replica train for kid to clamber over and on, it also has tracks, a railway crossing, and a very cool tunnel mural that gives the illusion the stationary train is heading somewhere.  A brilliant way to pass the hours for any imaginative train fanatic, the surrounding playground is fully fenced and generously shaded too.

Ewing Park, Woodridge

Ewing park train track and boom gate

Ewing Park in Woodridge has always been a Brisbane kids’ favourite when it comes to playgrounds that feature trains. Whilst the original playground that actually featured a play train has now been renovated and the train feature removed, the actual train drawcard is what surrounds it.  Running circles around the park is a miniature train track with crossings, a platform and even boom gates.  Even better – every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month there are actual train rides! Weather and restrictions permitting, from late January to November you and your children can enjoy train rides from 10:30am-4pm.

Queens Park, Ipswich

Did you know that the incredible park and playground at Queens Park in Ipswich is also home to a pretty cool sunken play train?  Built to look as though it submerged beneath the soft fall base of the playground, the small attraction makes for some pretty interesting play scenarios for kids.  The playground itself is pretty impressive, spread generously over a sloping hill within the parklands.  The kids will love the water play area, while the whole family will be enthralled by park’s other attractions including the Queens Park Environmental Education Centre, Ipswich Nature Centre, Nerima Japanese Gardens and on-site cafe.
